playlists

Now that I have ripped every CD I have owned and organized all of my digital music into a single library( stuff from eMusic, stuff from Amie street, etc..) I can carry all the music I own in the palm of my hand on my iPod. It is not that I have only a small amount of music, it is that the new iPod has this deviously wonderful storage capacity. Actually, I have almost 18 straight days worth of music in the library now..
It is wonderful marvelous fun and I am finding that I am listening to music that I have not taken time to play in years and years, as well as the really new stuff I have downloaded.
Smart Playlists are my best friend, and I am exploring new ways to think about my music, and new ways to mix them up. I have the obvious playlists per genre ( all the electronic, all the rock, etc..). I also did some by date ( 70s rock, 80s alternative, 80s rock, oldies, etc). I even broke down and have some that are specific to a particular favorite artist or even a few by individual album.
But now I am trying to think of other more interesting ways.. all the songs with a particular word in the title or description, for example..

How do you build your playlists? What is your favorite way to group your music? Do you use smart playlists or manual ones?
