► Thank you city. Without warning, without fore-notice, there were several city works trucks in from of the apartment building today at noon, including two backhoes, one fitted with an industrial sized jackhammer. They used the jackhammer to dig up part of the road, and then excavated the hole with the digger. I had just enough time to run and take a quick shower before they cut off the water, again without warning. Luckily the water was back on by 3:00pm, with the hole filled with gravel. That means I can use the washroom and wash my hands before Dad picks me up to go to his place for dinner.
The noise from the construction machines must have upset Stormy, because while they were here he was acting very weird, seemingly aggressive and hyper. He stopped running around and laid down on the kitchen table, and instead of scolding him I went to scoop him up. I was surprised when he suddenly curled up on my left hand grabbing me with his bared claws and scrapping and gnawing on me with his fangs. When I pulled my hand away the the back of my hand and all around my wrist were covered in scratches. Several faint, but a couple bleeding. None were deep, though.
I kept my distance from Storm for the next couple of hours, and by then he seemed more his usual self. It just surprised me because he hasn't deliberately scratched me in two months. Most of the time now when he curls up on my hand or takes a swipe at me he does it with his claws sheathed. I'm going to put this incident down as his just being scared by the loud industrial sounds.
► This should improve things at the apartment. Last night I was laying on my bed reading when I started to notice a noxious, acriditic smell. I stuck my head in the window screen but the smell didn't seem to be coming from outside. Worried that something was burning I went to the front of the apartment to look out the windows but stopped dead in my tracks when I saw Dean sitting on the couch very dramatically holding a
cigarillo between her fingers. She slowly turned her head toward me and said "what?" I told her I smelled something odd and was checking to make sure everything was okay. "You could smell this?" No shit.
It turns out that Dean, the woman who is constantly telling me she's going to cut back on her cigarette smoking because she spends to much, is now going to occasionally smoke cigarillos (she bought a pack) in addition to her regular non-cut-down cigarette smoking. She told me she used to smoke cigarillos years ago. Joy.
I'm sure the chest-rasp and cough I've had today are purely coincidental and are not at all connected to the new fowl smoke that the wind helpfully blew from the West side of the apartment into my bedroom on the East side.
Note: I never realized that you're not supposed to inhale cigar or cigarillo smoke when smoking them. Looking them up online I was surprised to learn that you're only supposed to suck the smoke into your mouth, swirl it around savoring (if that's possible) the flavours, and then expel the smoke. They don't teach you this stuff when you're growing up.

IMDB: Total Recall (2012) Photos with Kate Beckinsale - I've always said that I thought
Kate Beckinsale was cute and certainly pretty, but that I never found her particularly "sexy". She just always seemed somewhat boyishly cute to me. Well I guess maturing is upping her sexiness, because damn she looks good in this.
