The 35-Year-Old Agoraphobic
► Picked up a few extra items at the comic book shop today, one planned (my Mera Eaglemoss lead figurine), two not planned. There were more guys than usual standing around in the shop, loafing and chatting, so I browsed for a bit since it looked like I'd have to wait to get my stuff held behind the counter. That was fine because I took the opportunity to take another look through the discount tradepaperback box of books (left over from Free Comic Book Day). I picked up Essential Official Handbook of the Marvel Universe Update '89 and Gødland, Vol 4: Amplified Now, both for $2.99 each.
This means I have volumes 1 and 4 of Gødland, and not 2 or 3. Eh, I'll get them eventually.
► Last night I had an odd phone call from my younger sister Brett. She called me asking if I'd be willing to have her pick me up so I can babysit my nephew and niece for the weekend in Gananoque, 1:30 hours away. I told her I couldn't because I haven't been able to leave city limits in 8 years due to my agoraphobia, but she kept insisting that I'd be fine. After all this time my other siblings still don't seem to get that I'm not trying to be contrary or difficult, I simply currently have almost no ability to cope going out that far or long.
Brett eventually accepted that I couldn't do it and called Dean later to ask her. So Dean will be away all weekend and I'm finally going to have the apartment to myself for a few days. I've had almost no privacy in the 2 months she's missed work. Finally, I don't have to close my door to watch porn!
Speaking of which, it's really not amusing me how often Brett feels the need to reference the movie The 40-Year-Old Virgin when talking to me about my life. Next time she does it I should just flat out tell her off for it.

► MoviePilot: Andrew Garfield Turns To Porn For Character Inspiration - Well, to be fair, porn does inspire me.
► The 10 superheroes most in need of a movie reboot - Am I the only person who thinks that DC should just drop the "Speed Force" explanation for the Flash's powers? It just strikes me as unnecessary, expository, and overly complicated.
And, ugh, Wonder Woman is not Buffy The Vampire Slayer meets anything. That very notion is why I was terrified that a Joss Whedon Wonder Woman movie was going to present her as something akin to a pop culture savy smart aleck college student. Wonder Woman should have some degree of regality to go along with her ass-kicking ability. She's noble. That's who she is. That's also why I bristled so much when people claimed Xena: Warrior Princess was exactly the same as Wonder Woman. She was thematically similar, but not personality wise.
