Toy Stories

Apr 24, 2012 20:46

► Tough night, took a nap around 4:00pm and woke up at 8:00pm feeling really ill and rundown. No doubt it's just from sleeping with the window open while the weather outside is cold and very damp. Moving about and drinking a couple of glasses of water should clear that up.

► Now that was a welcome surprise this morning. I opened my front door around 8:15am and found a package waiting for me. For the past year most packages and letters from the US have taken 2 weeks on average to arrive, though they've been taking 2 and a half weeks since January. I was stunned to find that the parcel was the Toy Story Jessie 12" doll I bought on Ebay just last Monday. Only 8 days. The parcel was shipped from Kentucky, and not surprisingly the other 2 packages shipped that day (one also from Kentucky and the third from the much closer Rhode Island) haven't arrived yet. I'm not expecting those until next week.

I had originally planned to take the Jessie doll out of her packaging and sit her on top of my TV. However, since I got her and the condition of the package is so good, I've been considering leaving her in it and just displaying her as is. At the very least, I think I'll leave her like this for now.

Because I don't seem weird enough, here are the items I'm currently waiting for:► DC Heroes 2nd Edition Superman Sourcebook
► 19" Pink Panther doll
► 6 Jackie Chan DVDs (Project A; Project A 2; Dragon Lord; Twin Dragons; Supercop; The Tuxedo)
Hustler November 1981 issue

The Superman RPG sourcebook was shipped last Monday, two weeks after I paid for it. The seller told me that they had trouble finding the book which accounted for the delay (though I had to ask to find that out). While I don't play roleplaying games, I thought getting the sourcebook would be interesting since they include maps and write ups on all the characters and environments. My friend Matt assured me that the sourcebooks are 80% non game-number specific content, so that seemed fine to me.

The Pink Panther doll had been in my Watchlist for awhile when I finally bought it. When I was a child I had a large Pink Panther doll that I had gotten at a carnival. I have no memory of what happened to it except to know that it disappeared before we moved before I turned 8. Did it fall apart, or was it lost? I don't remember. The doll is shipping from China so when it gets here is anyone's guess.

The Jackie Chan DVDs were ones I've been wanting to get for some time, and the price worked out to $3 per DVD, so I thought that was pretty good.

Finally, the Hustler issue is one featuring a redheaded nude model who I've seen and liked in old magazine scans before. Since it was listed as being in good condition, and the price was right, I bought it. The model is on the cover and is supposed to be the centerfold so that would be cool to have.

CinemaCon: Sacha Baron Cohen's 'Dictator' Warns: 'There Are Bigger Bombs Than John Carter' - Cohen needs to seriously dial his "comic method" down a bit. There's playing a character to the hilt and there's simply just being an asshole.
