Cat Stuff
► Early this afternoon we got a call from my grandmother. She had gone to see her doctor a couple of days ago and is now on antibiotics and ordered not to travel, so my Aunt who she was going to visit came down and is staying with her instead. This means we won't be cat sitting after all, though my grandmother cryptically said she now knows we'd be willing to look after the cat in the future.
I still wonder why, since the cat belongs to my uncle and aunt who live with my grandmother, my cousin wouldn't look after it. Eh, who knows.
► All of this cat talk this week seems to have escalated the dialog Dean and I have had over the past year of eventually getting a kitten or cat ourselves. If it happens it'll probably still be some time off, but we seem to be in agreement that adopting a cat from the humane society would be the best idea, and if not a kitten a young adult would be fine. I've made it clear that if we do get a cat I want to along to pick one out, and that since it'll mostly be mine (as I'm in the apartment the most and would be primary care taker, I'd want to name it. I also have my heart set on getting a female.
Again, if we do this it won't be anytime soon. All of this is pretty funny to me when you consider I'm actually more of a dog person.

The modern Republican Party-in-flux seems to value ignorance and stupidity. See Sarah Palin, and Rick Santorum's rants against Obama's desire to make a college education for everyone affordable as a threat and "elitism". Evil feeds on ignorance.
► 9gag: Adele forgot what she said - Never underestimate the power of the mass media machine.
► 9gag: The worst teacher ever - I guess it's true... from a certain point of view.
► SciFi Mafia: Eight New Character Posters for G.I. JOE: RETALIATION - Usually I think character movie posters are an example of the lazy thinking in modern movie promotion, and these are an example of that, but I kinda like these pics.
► THE AVENGERS Star Tom Hiddleston Writes Eloquent Editorial in Defense of Superhero Movies - It's always nice when someone from high brow culture (as the Cambridge and the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art educated Hiddleston is) gets the power and appeal of such low brow fair as superhero comics, or at least the movie adaptions. Thing is, most superhero comic book fans have heard and made these arguments themselves many times before.
► The Avengers XXX: A Porn Parody Trailer (no nudity) - Yes! They got Brooklyn Lee to play Black Widow again after last year's Spider-Man XXX. Though I still think the guy they have as Spidey lacks comic timing and still sounds less like a self-deprecating quipster more like a douchebag, but it's a porn film after all.
