► Posted to my Facebook wall:Derek: If string theory and the infinite "many-worlds" multiversal theories are correct, doesn't that mean Superman is real?
Matt: It means on some world you're Superman and I'm Batman
Derek: ...you just blew my mind.
► It took a few hours, but I finally finished the 5 previous journal entries. I had started them all over the past week and a half, but kept putting off finishing them as I kept getting distracted offline by watching DVDs and other (not necessarily shiny) things.
During my many offline periods this past week, I re-watched my
Corner Gas DVD sets (
seasons 1 through 4). After I finished them I looked up the availability of the
Season 5 and
Season 6 sets online (since I can't find them in stores anymore) and found they cost between $25 and $30. On Ebay I found a seller in Ontario who was auctioning off both sets for $10, previously viewed but listed as "like new" and with notes saying they were both watched only once. I figured the price and the risk weren't bad so I bid on both of them, and won them tonight.
This is in addition to a red
Superman symbol
tuque (knit winter hat) that I bought from a Seoul, South Korean seller Friday night on Ebay, and to some bids I have on a vintage early 80s
Superman (
Christopher Reeve films) poster book magazine and a few drawings. I think I have a good chance of winning the Superman poster book, but given how low I bid on the drawings I'm sure to lose all of them (which I don't mind). So much for curbing my compulsive consumption.
I really do like the tuque, although I wonder how long it'll take to get from South Korea to my mail box. I showed
the Ebay listing to my friend, Kai, and she said I should have bought either the black or the white hat since the symbol would stand out better than it will against the red one. The reason I didn't chose those colours was because I've gotten tired of seeing so much black clothing everywhere, and I thought that the white would just discolour quickly. Plus, I've been wanting to get more red clothing the past couple of years, although I'm not entirely sure why.

Actress/Filmmaker Rie Rasmussen Says If Tarantino's "Django" Doesn’t Change Face Of Films, Then Hollywood Is Truly 'Mothereffin' Racist - Seriously? I mean, seriously?
What the hell is it about
Tarantino that turns other filmmakers and Hollywood people into raving overwrought hyperbolic lunatics? He's making a another cheeseball exploitation movie. Nothing more, nothing less. He is not making the second coming merging of
Citizen Kane and
Roots. If it's like his previous films it will treat any social or ethical issues in a cartoonishly exaggerated and incredibly naive way, if it addresses them at all. People need to calm the fuck down about Tarantino and stop taking crazy pills.

Penny: That's Superman's big ice thingy, right?
Sheldon Cooper: I'm in such a good mood today, I find your tenuous grasp of the English language folksy and charming.
