Not A Good Sign

► Started watching Close Encounters of the Third Kind last night and finished it this morning. Modern movies just don't seem to have the same sense of magic, wonder and awe nowadays. Pity.

► So we're still not out of the woods with regards to all of Dean's drama and now I have more stuff to worry about.

Last December I met with a social worker at the outpatient mental health department of the local hospital for an evaluation. A few weeks later (in January) I finally heard back from her and was told that she presented my case to the panel of psychologists at the hospital and it was decided that my former psychologist would take my case. I was then told that he was away for a bit and there was a waiting list for when he returned so I might have to wait upwards of half a year or more. It's the end of October and I still haven't heard anything.

The reason that this is important is that because of the nature of my agoraphobia I stopped seeing my psychologist a few years ago. My disability pension comes up for review in 2012 (it's every 5 years) so I need to get back in to seeing someone regularly to be prepared for when I'm sent the paperwork for reapplication for disability. Mind you, my pension caseworker had told me before that there's a long backlog and I may not actually come up for review for months if not a year or more, but I can't count on that.

Yesterday I called the phone number and extension for the social worker I saw at the beginning of the year, only to discover it's now the extension for a different social worker. Shocked, I left a message explaining my situation on her voice mail but haven't heard back yet.

Today I called the number I have for my old psychologist, the one I was told I'd be seeing. His extension is no longer operational and he's no longer in the hospital directory. I called the hospital operator and was transferred to the department secretary but only got her voice mail too. Again I left a message explaining my situation but haven't heard back yet.

I am not taking blame for this situation. I went through the referral process with my family physician (which took a couple of months to get an appointment), saw the social worker (another couple of months to get an appointment), to have my case brought to a panel (another month) and told I'd be seeing my old psychologist but would have to wait. Now I find out they're all gone without my ever receiving any word? I better not have to restart the entire process by scratch because that could me another year before I see anyone.

Now I'm in limbo. It's really starting to feel like I've been jerked around and I'd really appreciate not losing my pension and ending up homeless. This would be moot if we could win the lottery, but that plan hasn't worked yet.

► After I won those four Wynn Ryder sketchcards this past Sunday, I bought 2 more sketchcard commissions from him (thus officially and foolishly draining my money for the remainder of the month). I asked Wynn for a Dylan Dog card, and his choice of either a nude Batgirl or nude Medusa. Looks like yesterday he emailed me the scans for Dylan Dog and Batgirl. Snazzy!

I will admit to being surprised by the Dylan Dog card, as I expected something closer to the cards he did of Beachhead and The Black Terror, but he included Dylan's sidekick Groucho, so that's pretty damn cool. Besides, I can always commission another solo Dylan Dog card down the line. And we all know I will.

9gag: Notifications - You'd think Batman would have more.

Gallery: Man of Steel Vancouver Set Photos - Well he certainly looks intimidating. I gather their going with a much more butch and burly physical take for the character and movie. Is there any place for charm and whimsy in a modern Superman movie? I hope so.

Coke Can Glass - That I like.

Celebrity downblouse. Need I say more (40 Photos) - No. No you don't.

Quote of the Moment

François Delambre: You've commited murder just as much as Helene did. You killed a fly with a human head. She killed a human with a fly head.
