► Dean definitely seems a lot better today, and I am glad for that. I guess the test will be whether or not she finally goes to work tomorrow. God, I hope so.
She was lucid and clear headed enough to drive today after having lunch (brought by a friend who stayed to visit for a bit) and having slept for 14 hours. Around 1:00pm she left to pick up her boyfriend from work and to visit our younger sister (in town at her mother-in-law's) and then visit friends. I was worried about her driving and being out, but she was fine, and I think it did her some good.
Yesterday I forgot to mention that Dad dropped by the apartment in the middle of the afternoon. I was surprised because he brought me a loaf of bread, a big bottle of
A&W root beer, and a package of store baked cinnamon buns (which are always welcome. It was a bit of an unusual visit because he insisted on vacuuming the apartment, and I helped him with that by first moving furniture around, and then alternating vacuuming and dusting, cobwebs while he washed the counter tops and stove top in the kitchen.
Dad came by again this afternoon, not knowing Dean was out. He asked to use the washroom and I realized that he was cleaning up in there. This lead to me helping by vacuuming the cobwebs in the bathroom and utility room, and then scrubbing the crud and stains from the bedroom doors. Crud that had been left by the previous tenants when we moved in 3 years ago (I could never work up the nerve to scrub the doors until today). The bathtub still needs clearing, and I should get a scouring pad and scrub the kitchen floor. Should being the operative word.
► Re-watching the
Jurassic Park movies I'm really struck by how much
Stephen Spielberg's depiction of kids changed over the years. In his 70s and 80s films kids are usually more genuine and real, but his 90s films like
Hook and
Jurassic Park 1 and 2 the kids come off more like wiseacre sitcom kids. It's subtle, but there was a definite switch from kids being mostly empathic in a generalized and naturalistic way to being disingenuous and flat out obnoxious know-it-alls.
Speaking of dinosaurs, my favourite dinosaur growing up? The
stegosaurus.
► In yesterday's entry I mentioned I bid on 9 drawings on Ebay expecting to lose all of the auctions only to win 2 of them. My prediction was based on losing each and every one of the previous 15 art auctions by the same seller that I had bid on. Aside from those drawings, I had also bid on 4 sketchcards drawing and auctioned by the stupendous English artist
Wynn Ryder. I've only ever won a single auction of his (all the rest of
my collection of his sketchcards coming from private commissions), so I expected to lose all 4 of those cards as well.
I didn't. I actually won all 4 of the cards:
Red Sonja, "
Slave"
Leia, and 2
Superman cards. It's nice to get some more Superman artwork in my collection. Also it's probably good for me to get some more female Wynn Ryder cards that aren't nudes. If just for variety sake.
►
Charlie Sheen Slams New 'Two and a Half Men' - Oddly enough, I watched the latest episode last week and actually found it funny, albeit mostly just for
Aston Kutcher's performance (odd because I've always hated
the show).

Deer Stand Camera Snaps Strange Animal In Louisiana - Viral Marketing Hoax? - A deer camera in the woods is found badly damaged with 1 odd photo on the memory card. Of course it's

► The other day a friend linked me to this photo manip of
Scarlett Johansson from
Iron Man 2, and I think it's the greatest picture I've seen all week. Yowzas. I think the movie would have been vastly improved if this was real.
I know it's a fake, and so are they, but for once I don't seem to care. **drool**
