Hot Tempered

► The dog days of summer must be brewing. It's been quite hot and humid all week and looks like it's going to get worse over the next few days. I imagine August will be worse.

I'm still coping with my back and abdominal pains (although they're much less intense than they were just a few days ago). After being offline so much over the past week, I haven't really gotten back into the grove of coming online. I'm actually more eager to continue watching TV show sets from my unwatched DVD stand.

► Today was the first time in a very long time that I lost my temper enough to break something I owned. I've had my DC Direct Green Lantern line Cyborg Superman figure for over 3 years. In all that time he has stood sturdily on his platform base on my shelves. That is, until today. Today, I noticed for the first time he had pitched backward. It seems the heat and humidity were enough to cause his ankle to warp. The weight of his body pulling on that ankle, and the heat and humidity, further warped the peg hole in the bottom of his foot, so that his foot no longer fit snugly on the base peg.

I tried repeatedly over the afternoon to readjust the figure and reposition him, only to find him toppled over again each time. His ankle still bent oddly. Having to do this over and over really started wearing on my nerves. The heat and the humidity bearing down on my in my room, and the pains in my back and abdomen helped prod and provoke my ire until I finally couldn't take it anymore and actually ripped to figure apart. His right leg snapped off at the hip, his left leg was ripped off at the knee, and his head was snapped clean off too. I through the pieces into one of my action figure storage boxes, except for his head which I've placed at the feet of my "main" Superman figure beside my monitor. It seemed in character to me, since I seem to recall the Cyborg Superman appearing as a disembodied head in some comics.

It's just incredibly frustrating that DC Direct makes these figures that cost $20 - $25, and yet they can't see fit to put the peg holes in both feet. Instead they make their figures top heavy and unbalanced, placing the peg holes in the non-load-bearing leg. After ten years you'd think the company and designers would have some sense or understanding of the concept of center-of-gravity. Two weeks ago I bought my Brightest Day Hawkgirl figure. She has large wings, a heavy headpiece, and tiny feet and thin ankles. She's already pitching backward as the heat, humidity and weight of the figure warp her ankle.

Maybe I should just toss her into my storage box now and save myself the frustration.

Kelly Brook Bikini Pictures For the Candidly Stellar Comeback - "Inexplicable absence"? Kelly Brook had a very publicly reported miscarriage just a couple of months ago. I think that's a good reason for her wanting to step away from the limelight and paparazzi for a short while.

Kelly Brook Offers Up Another Round of Bikini Amazing Kelly Brook in a Blue Bikini in Italy - As with the pictures in the above link, it's refreshing to see that Kelly regained her soft voluptuous figure, given how her weight had dropped and she'd been really skinny the last couple of years. That softness looks so much better on her.

The George C. Scott clip is from a 1979 film called Hardcore, where he plays a religiously conservative Midwestern businessman who's daughter is abducted and forced into illegal pornography and prostitution.
