Conspicuous Consumption
► What a pain in the ass. Our internet and phone connections were down all afternoon, from at least 2:45pm until 6:15pm. From 6:15pm on to almost 8:00pm, the connection continued to drop repeatedly. I wonder what the hell was wrong.
► Mail is supposed to resume tomorrow, and man do I hope so. The lockout only started on June 14th, but mail hasn't been delivered to my apartment building since the week before that. It's been two and a half weeks since we've gotten anything.
My main concern, as I've said numerous times, are the 8 packages that have spent the past couple of weeks trapped in the locked down postal system. My 8 packages are:► Green Lantern and Captain American tin signs (Poster Revolution)
► Batgirl lingerie sketchcard by Wynn Ryder (Ebay)
► Big Barda drawing by Greg Moutafis (Ebay)
► Blue Beetle and Red Sonja sketchcards by Wynn Ryder (Ebay)
► Ms. Marvel drawing by Carlos Silva and Red Sonja drawing by M.Doug (Ebay)
► Batgirl crochet doll by LLsCreations83 (Etsy)
► Playboy January 1979 magazine (Ebay)
► Playboy May 1979 magazine (Ebay)
While I hope at least one of my packages arrives tomorrow, I'm not really expecting most of these until at least the end of next week. The mail has been so slowed by rolling strikes and a lockout these last several weeks, I imagine it's going to take awhile for things to get back on track. With that in mind, I think the chances of any of my stuff arriving tomorrow are slim.
I just hope my tin signs aren't dented, bent or otherwise damaged from being stuck in a holding facility all this time.
► 5 Easy Lessons To Make Green Lantern 2 Better Than The First - I still liked Green Lantern, but they should be able to make a better, faster paced and more dramatically resonant sequel. A blockbuster movie needs one specific emotional beat that's the center of the film. Green Lantern just didn't have one.
► Pacific Rim will be “biggest monster movie ever made” - I hadn't heard of this movie before now, but it sounds pretty cool. Giant monsters, giant robots, and it's going to be directed by Guillermo del Toro? Sign me up!
► Homemade Mystery Science Theater 3000 headboard - That's pretty clever.
► Monty Python Reunites To Raise Graham Chapman From The Dead - An animated film about the life of Graham Chapman. Using nearly 30 year old audio recordings of him reading his autobiography, with (most of) the other Pythonites contributing voices as themselves and other roles. And it might be called "Graham Chapman - Dead in 3D". This just sounds completely bizarre. Good.
► Kush Support: Sleep Support For Your Breasts - For some reason I like this infomercial.
