Senate weighs Canada Post back-to-work bill - Looks like the mail in Canada should resume sometime in the next few days. The NDP (opposition party) attempt to filibuster the government bill to force the postal union back to work lasted 58 hours and only delayed the inevitable. As I've said, no one has wanted the mail to resume more than me, but I'm disgusted that the conservative government is using bullying tactics in getting it going again, punishing the worker union and workers, instead of the executives who who down the mail with a lock out. I'm stunned no one has said anything about seeing if the bill is even constitutional since it's violating the rights of workers. But yeah, the mail is supposed to resume maybe Tuesday or Wednesday this week.

At the very least I should start getting my 8 packages that have been held hostage by Canada Post for the past several weeks. On the one hand I'm excited to finally get my stuff, but on the other hand it offends me politically and morally that the government is fucking over regular people and awarding the executives who were the ones who shut down the mail. This is Canada, dammit! So thank you Stephen Harper, but also fuck you too.

Warner Bros. Reportedly Readying a 'Green Lantern' Sequel - Apparently Warner Bros is going to push ahead with a sequel despite Green Lantern doing so lacklustre in the North American box office (I think it should still break even world wide). I guess the idea is that it's better to do a sequel since everything is set up already, than to do another expensive relaunch. Honestly, I don't care what the reasoning is, I still think it was a fantastic movie and I'm eagerly looking forward to seeing more of Ryan Reynolds as Hal Jordan, and what they'll do next with the Green Lantern universe.

Is this the full line-up for the new Justice League? - The costumes look a bit better in this drawing, but I still question the logic of the legendarily invulnerable Superman in what appears to be body armour.

I'm stocked that Mera will be in the Justice League, but what we can see of her costume looks pretty crappy. Is she wearing a gold clawed neck-brace? Jim Lee needs to learn the concept of "less is more" with costume design. Seriously, how is covering everyone in extraneous piping and squiggly lines "modern"? So many great modern costumes dumped for ridiculously, elaborately cluttered and generic ones with this relaunch. [sigh]

All that aside, I am growing to like the new Wonder Woman outfit.

Superman Homepage: June 24, 2011: Can DC Comics Relaunch On Schedule This September? - Speaking of the relaunch, there's already rumours (unsourced so take that as you will) that DC's writers and artists are already behind on several of the series and there might be delays as soon as October. Shocking.

Geek X Girls: Robin Photoshoot - Man... I want her to be my crimefighting partner. "He's an agoraphobic from Canada who has too much spare time, she's a beautiful geek girl who likes to dress up as boy heroes. Together, they fight crime!"

Quote of the Moment

Jefferson Smith: I guess this is just another lost cause, Mr. Paine. All you people don't know about lost causes. Mr. Paine does. He said once they were the only causes worth fighting for. And he fought for them once, for the only reason any man ever fights for them; because of just one plain simple rule: 'Love thy neighbor.'... And you know that you fight for the lost causes harder than for any other. Yes, you even die for them.
