► Talk about wired. I spent the day home alone in the apartment as Deana had gone with Dad to Kingston to visit our younger sister Brett, and pick up her kids. As I said before, we're babysitting 5 year old Max, and 2 year old Abby this weekend.
They got here at about 5:30pm and I went downstairs to help them bring all the bags inside. When I got to the front security door, that's when UPS happened to arrive with a package for me. Earlier this week I ordered four tradepaperbacks that all have 1-3 week availability rates. Well, three of them; the fourth was shipped separately yesterday. I'm skeptical as to whether Amazon will be able to fulfill the rest of the order and send me the other three books. The book I received today is
I Can't Believe It's Not The Justice League (the 3 delayed books are:
Showcase Presents Green Lantern Vol 5,
Invincible Vol 6: A Different World, and
Invincible Vol 7: Three's Company).
Dad stuck around for supper. We ordered from a local pizza restaurant that I love the food, although they have one guy (the owner I think) who's always a jerk on the phone. He's the one who took the order (hung up on me when I asked for the price and didn't recognize me or my address and order when I called back 10 seconds later). Anytime I get a woman on the phone there, they're always pleasant and efficient.
► Yes! I got to talk to small comic press artist friend
SatyQ again today.
Yesterday he drew Medusa (as per our current sketch deal) and today he was able to draw
Batgirl for me! The Batgirl drawing is based on the storyline from
Batman Confidential issues 17 to 21, specifically the issue where she has to chase
Catwoman into a high class nudist/hedonist club, naked. I love the sketch and think it's perfect.
Just 2 more sketches to go. I've been having trouble deciding who to ask him to draw. I asked if he had any preferences out of the 5 characters I want and he said
Mera, so I'm going to ask him for that. Hopefully he'll be able to draw her soon, although I need to make a reference sheet to send to him.
Here's SatyQ's sketch, and a page in the comic book drawn by
Kevin Maguire that was the inspiration.

CBR Preview: Alpha Flight #0.1 - I gather
Canada in the
Marvel Universe is far from the same Canada in the real world. We have a multi-political party system with 4-5 parties in Parliament. This makes reference to 2 (the "Left" and the "Right") with a new pseudo-fascist third party. Also Canada was much less affected by the global economy collapse in 2008 than most of the rest of the Western world.
Our unemployment rate is about 7.6%. Much less than the 15% in the comic book. Comments in the forum for the comic keep making reference to it alluding to the
CBC as far right ultra conservative national news network in the vein of
Fox News. "Just write it as the US, we'll change the names to Canadian ones later."
At least the original cast of
Alpha Flight is back.

"Vertical Lines" by Leather Hands - Greatest music video of all time, or merely the bustiest? Suddenly I love physics. The song itself reminds me of 80s pop rock, and I quite like it.
