My Dream Team
► Tomorrow I'm supposed to go with Dad to my grandmother's house to take down and wash the curtains. Feeling a bit ill and queasy though, and don't really feel like going out. Tuesday's meeting took a lot of the wind out of my sails. Still, it's just to her place and I might feel better in the morning so I guess I should go. I'll just have to call Dad later and see when we're supposed to go.
► Things are a bit worrisome here at the apartment. Deana hasn't gotten her work insurance money yet from being on short-term disability a few weeks ago. On Monday I spent an hour on the phone with the insurance company getting bumped from department to department across Canada, and no one could or would tell us the status of her claim. A caseworker was supposed to call us back within 48 hours but never did. Today she got a letter in the mail with a password to check her claim online. It said she was approved, but still no money. What a pain in the ass.
► Earlier today someone posted on a forum I frequent, asking people to name their ideal 7 member "League of Extraordinary Gentlemen". There were absolutely no limitations as the characters could be from books, comics, movies, TV, video games, legend, anything. After mentioning this to a few people, they were all able to quickly come up with their own lists. Me? I of course have been hemming and hawing over it for several hours. It's not going to get any better, so here are my League members:
Superman; Sherlock Holmes; 10th Doctor; MacGyver;
Ellen Ripley; Red Sonja; Indiana Jones;
Superman would be the team leader and tank; Holmes is the master of observation and tactician; the Doctor, team genius, would supply the transportation base and equipment (I figured the 10th would work best with a large group); MacGyver can get in and out of tight spots with his ingenuity and resourcefulness; Ripley I envision as the heart of the team and moral center; Sonja because every team needs 1 character who would not hesitate to kill when needed; and Indy works as thief class hero along with being a dogged adventurer.
I actually toyed with dropping Indiana Jones from the list because of his overlap with MacGyver, but I couldn't decide on an alternate. Ideally I would have chosen a gun-totting fem-fatale but couldn't think of any other than the Baroness. Other alternates were Carl Kolchak, The Phantom, Ginny Weasley (to give me a magic based character and another female) and Optimus Prime. My girl friend Kai kept adamantly insisting that Optimus should replace Indy. I really did consider it.
► Terrifying Ewok Tattoo - Terrifying? That's one of the best fandom tattoos I've seen.
► Fat Barbie Doll Fantasies - ...what?
► Build Your Own Stargate Using The Original Movie Blueprints - I guess it's a fair alternative if you can't afford to build your own AT-AT Walker.
► Bodies of Work: 38 Unforgettable Nude Scenes - I think for a lot of men who were young boys or teens circa 1983 (myself included), Beverly D'Angelo in Vacation was their introduction to the majesty of the nude female form. And what form it was.
► Natalie Portman Has More Double Trouble with Supposed Butt Substitute - This is getting moronic. Portman's face is in the shot in question and she's shown off her ass in film before.
