Good Gas/Bad Gas

Mar 30, 2011 18:10

► Feeling better today as the abscess lump above my gums doesn't seem as big, and my cheek isn't as stiff and swollen. Both issues are still there, but they seem to be fading. My tooth hurts less and less too.

When Dad returns no doubt my agoraphobia will win out and I'll have the excuse of no immediate concern to keep me from going to the dentist again. If only they still gassed patients...

► Speaking of gas... I couldn't sleep when I went to bed late last night (early this morning) as my room was feeling a bit too warm. Opening the window for the first time in months helped, that is until a few minutes later when all I could smell was a strong odour of burning glue. Looking out the window I found that the neighbour in the apartment on the first floor diagonal from us had remote started their car. There must be something seriously wrong with their engine because the exhaust was rolling out and collecting as a fog through the driveway, directly under my window. The car stayed idling like that for almost 15 minutes.

The burning smell was so bad I had to close my window after only a couple of minutes and turn on my box fan. It's time they went for a tune up.

Adrianne Palicki Super Hero, Super Body - Nice to see they darkened the blue of her pants, and switched the blue boots to red, but I still think it looks less like she's Wonder Woman and more just some chick in an unlicensed Wonder Woman knock off Halloween costume.

The Mighty Thor Cannot Defeat A Taser In New Clip From Film - The God of Lightning dropped by taser? That's like Superman being taken out by rubber bullets. I wonder if he's supposed to have his powers stripped when he's banished to Earth.

How to create your own original superhero from scratch - A lot of good (non specific) advice from comic book writers and authors. I myself do tend to focus on archtypes when I create my own characters, but try to add my own spin through personality and other details. Lord knows I have a habit of overusing the Superman "paragon" archtype. My Bush League superheroine team currently has no fewer than 3 Superman rips: Utopia, Majesty, and Wendy Wonder. Five if you count Utopia's sister Eden and daughter Providence (yes I was going for a specific motif with their names). Six, if I ever get around to revamping my old character Bushgirl as I've planned.

Arnold Schwarzenegger is back as 'The Governator' -- EXCLUSIVE - Is there anything Stan Lee won't throw his name on? This just sounds awful.*

* Said the man who has a superheroine named Bushgirl.

Colin Farrell accidentally disses his 'Fright Night' remake - I don't think what Farrell said is all that bad. At the most it sounds cautiously optimistic. What's wrong with his preferring the original and hoping the remake increases interest in it while pleasing older fans?

► I've no idea what this is from, other than it's Karen Gillan, and rather naughty.

Quote of the Moment

Dr. Alfred Morris: [Lecturing to his class] We have lethal gases which are used for a definite purpose... to kill. The poison gas of the natives had a definite purpose, but it not bring death though, but death in life, or, if you prefer, life in death.
