Surprisingly Calm

► Survived the day at my brother's despite bad abdominal pain after last night. I think it was mostly nerves and muscle cramping from tensing my abs too much. Still overly anxious about tomorrow's big re-assessment appointment, but I'm oddly calm as it draws nearer. Normally I wouldn't have eaten at all today, or at least just something very light, so as to cut down on the potential for feeling ill when out, but on the way home this afternoon I thought "to hell with it" and stopped to get a foot long steak sub at Subway. We shall see if I regret it in the morning or not.

In the back of my mind I just keep thinking "fuck it, if I don't feel well I'll reschedule; I am an agoraphobic".

► Way back in the summer I was excited and thrilled to discover that Amazon.com had a massive array of movie posters for sale, with lots of them sized 11" x 17". Perfect for my room! My little heart was broken when I found out that they couldn't/wouldn't ship posters to Canada. The disappointment was compounded when I found out that the poster selection on Amazon.ca was horrendous and consisted mostly of medieval wood cuttings and religious paintings. It made me sad.

Last week I was doing some random searches on Amazon.ca when I discovered that they had apparently changed so things so that you could now find and buy movie posters. Apparently, like the American site, the posters aren't actually sold by Amazon but by American poster stores through the site. I was just glad to know that I would now be able to get some.

A couple of days ago I found out that I had more money than I had previously thought (since I haven't been buying much this month). Talking with Dad, he agreed to let me order 5 posters and 4 tradepaperbacks from the site. I placed them in 2 separate orders and promptly paid him the money.

What I'm getting:Tradepaperback
Superman: Brainiac
Superman/Madman Hullabaloo!
Final Crisis: Legion of Three Worlds
The Dylan Dog Case Files

Movie posters
Nosferatu the Vampyre (1979)
Forbidden Planet (1956)
Diamonds Are Forever (1971)
Live and Let Die (1973)
The Man With The Golden Gun (1974)

Of the books, three are Superman comics and the fourth is a collection of 7 Dylan Dog graphic novels (Italian horror detective comic book series; the collection is 680 pages). Turns out that the Nosferatu poster I ordered is an Italian language one, which is funny to my since it's a German film. As least it will be the same artwork. I almost didn't get the 3 James Bond posters because I've long wanted the posters for the 3 Flash Gordon 1930s movie serials. Ultimately I went with Bond because I love the artwork for those posters more (all 3 are by artist Robert McGinnis).

I'm hoping the posters are at least the same quality as the card stock mini posters I got at the mall a couple years ago for $4 each. Since they're shipping from a store in the US and aren't shipping for a few days, it might be a week or so before I get them. My books, however, shipped today and the website says they should arrive tomorrow. I'm a bit worried about that since I'll be away at my appointment and if I'm not here to answer the door UPS sends packages back to Ottawa and there could be a few days before they attempt another delivery.

► From chat:Matt: people = stupid
Matt: and you know that
Derek: yes, yes I do
Derek: UPS dropped off a DVD I ordered for my dad this morning
Derek: guy asked my last name and typed it into his big electronic thingie as I spelled it out
Derek: D-E-S-R-O-S-I-E-R-S
Derek: checking the updates on Amazon earlier that order now reads "Signed for by: DESROSIOUS"
Matt: Dude, that's your new Fetlife name
Matt: 'You're magically Desrosious'
Derek: Desrosious is Serious
Derek: hahaha
Derek: yes
