Two Days To Finish A Post, That's Not Good
► Today and tonight I feel really fucked up. I haven't eaten much since Sunday, and I keep obsessively worrying about everything that's on the go. Worried about that video order, whether I can go out on Thursday, going to the bank, and worst of all, my doctor's appointment next week. I'm getting my first check up in years, and I'm also supposed to ask for a referral so I can get back to seeing my old psychologist. That has me worried because I always fear I'll need to go back for even more appointments.
Anyway, all of this has me feeling rundown, exhausted, and completely fried. Lack of sleep isn't helping either, as I've been living in a cloudy storm these past 2 days. I need to find my zen spot and put things in calm perspective.
► Yesterday morning I was chatting with a friend of mine who's hobby is commissioning and collecting original artwork and sketches from comic book artists. A lot of professional and amateur artists to paid sketches at comic book conventions and take commissions online. I've long said that I would like to get some more original sketches and drawings from comic book artists but most are out of my price range.
John, my friend, asked me what my price range was (up to $100) and then recommended some artists to me. One of the artists' sample gallery blew me away. His online moniker is ArtChild. The artwork really impressed me, in particular some of his recent commissions (Wonder Woman, Batgirl 1, and Batgirl 2).
I ended up emailing him after finding out that he's Toronto based, and after exchanging several messages, I'm going to be commissioning a Red Sonja pic (which, given who I am, will be nude and bushy; I sent refs of ATKhairy model Ryanne to make sure he was comfortable drawing that much) for $102 USD. All I have to do is mail the payment, and because it has to be USD it'll be easier to send a money order. That means a visit to the bank this week. Would be much easier if I knew how to fill out a check for foreign currency and get my sister to mail it for me, but I'll live.
Looks like I'll be putting off some of those TV show season DVD sets for awhile longer. I'm not bothered by the cost too much because the quality and amount of work in his drawings is really impressive. This has me really excited.
► Finally, after several months, I updated my ComicArtFans gallery by adding the rest of my Dexter Cockburn drawings.
