I Like A Fair Bit Of Crap, But I Won't Pay $10 For It

► Got a call from Dad last night just after 9:00pm. He said that he had to run an errand for my grandmother today, so asked if I wanted to go out. I was a bit worried, given I had been out this past Friday and I wasn't sure how my nerves would be in the morning, but I figured it'd probably be good for me. Turns out he ran that errand in the morning before picking me up at 1:00pm today.

Ended up doing a DVD run. I didn't buy any last week and had a little extra money so I didn't feel too bad about it. We went to Zellers on the East end where we both bought 4 DVDs. From there we went to the mall. Went into Sears, were we both did a quick look through the old 2-for-$12 table, before I went to look at the new cheap DVD display and he went to the food court to get a coffee.

There were a few DVDs I was interested in picking up, but ultimately decided I didn't want to spend $10 on any of them (Semi-Pro, Journey To The Center Of The Earth, Milk, and $20 for Simon & Simon: Season 1 among them). I was heading out into the mall, when a second new rack on the opposite side of the aisle caught my attention. Figured I would investigate. I'm glad I did because I found the 3 disc special edition of Hellboy 2 for $10, and Deathtrap for $3.50! Deathtrap being one of the $5.79 (US) DVDs I almost ordered from Amazon.com a couple of weeks ago. I had figured out with the exchange rate, shipping and handling, and import fees, those $5.79 US DVDs on the American Amazon cost us just under $10 each. I got it for less than half. That made my day.

The three DVDs I bought at Sears were also the only copies they had of each.

There were a few more DVDs I wanted in that display (St Trinian's for one) but didn't get. I mentioned in passing to Dad that they could wait "until next time". He said he could take me back to the mall next week. I pointed out that he likely wouldn't be able to since he's leaving early Wednesday, February 10th for his South Carolina golf trip, but apparently he now might not be leaving until that Friday.

That's great, because I have a serious need to see Rupert Everett play a woman.Zellers

► Today I decided to start wearing one of the 2 rings I inherited from my maternal grandfather. The one I'm wearing is his diamond wedding band, which I have on my right middle finger (I was given it 2 years ago from my father who had been given it after my grandfather died in 2000). The other ring is his old Tiger's eye pinky ring, which I find heavy and uncomfortable (I have to wear it on my ring finger, when I do).

The problem is I'm not use to wearing rings, and I'm starting to find it a bit irritating. I also keep worrying about knocking the stone loose, and whether I should take it off to go to bed, to the bathroom and to wash my hands. I don't know proper ring etiquette.

► Dean came home this morning after having a panic attack at work. So as not to worry Dad when he picked me up, she wrote on the kitchen calendar a fake doctor's appointment. When he got her she went on about how she had an appointment at 12:30pm and had to take a half day. She was so convincing, I think I actually believed her myself.

The Smurfs: Character Design Revealed - For the upcoming live action/CGI movie. It's not as disturbing as I expected. That's not exactly glowing praise, is it?

Olivia Wilde Up For Cowboys & Aliens: Joining Daniel Craig in the sci-fi pic - I'm still surprised that Daniel Craig's casting raised as many eyebrows as it did. Sean Connery and Richard Harris both starred in westerns through the 60s and 70s and they weren't exactly all-American cowpokes.

Razzie Noms Are All About Steve Sandra, Will…R.Pattz?! - Oh, the ignominy! Poor Sandy.
