Dogs And Drawing Tables

► I think it's time I dug out some of my old CDs and start playing them when I'm on the computer. Stuff like Metallica (the black album, Load, Reload, Garage Inc), my Radiohead and Garbage albums, and my various best of CDs (Bon Jovi, Cream, Eurythmics, The Doors...) and... Ok now I'm just listing things for no reason.

Been a long time since I used to play endless streams of discs and music since my old 3 disc stereo broke down in 2002, and I fell out of the practice. That's also when I started slowing down my artistic output, eventually stopping in 2004, because I always drew while listening to CDs or the radio.

Good times... Gone.

► I have no doggie, yet now my brother has 2. I'm envious. A friend of Jenn's family found an abandoned puppy last week out in the country. They apparently checked with the SPCA and newspapers but no one claimed the puppy. The people who found it weren't able to keep him, or find anyone else who could, so Darren and Jenn took him in. He's around 8 to 12 weeks, and seems to be a mix although mostly Black Lab (he has a grey patch of fur on his lower lip, and a thin white strip down the center of his chest). They named him Charlie. Dad and I went by last night for a bit to see him. He's very cute, but really timid and stayed curled up in a ball all the time we were there. I don't blame him, he's only been at the house since Monday, and I'm sure all the different people staring at him must be intimidating.

Hopefully Darren can get Bruce (our behemoth 8 and a half year old Akita/Husky) used to Charlie so he'll have some companionship. Bruce is still really territorial, so Darren's introducing Charlie to him a little each day outside in the back (with Bruce wearing a muzzle for safety). I hope they can make it work.

► Since I no longer use my drafting table (it's a glorified junk pile now) I've been thinking of dismantling it and putting another small bookcase in it's place. I had an old solid wood white bookcase that I had to leave at the house when I moved out in summer 2008. My brother asked to borrow it before I had left, so I asked him yesterday if I could have it back. Turns out they threw it out. Sucks because this means I have to buy a new one, and it'll have to be a cheaply made laminated presswood junker. The quality of the ones at Walmart have really dropped down over the years. My faux cherry one I bought in the mid 90s is pretty sturdy and well made, but the beige ones I have (one from last summer) are fairly flimsy. I could get some better ones, but not locally.

Leaving my brother's house last night Dad decided to take me to the East end mall to look at Zellers. Ostensibly to see if they had any and to price them. No such luck. Couldn't find the 4" tall Marvel Universe Captain America action figure Darren told me they had a month ago. Very disappointing.

At least I got to look at the cheap DVDs. I'm running low on funds so I limited myself to just 2 for $12. I bought Walking Tall (2004 remake) and The Clearing (I put Barry Lyndon back before going to the check out).

Jennifer Love Hewitt’s Stripper Scene From Ghost Whisperer - Maybe I should start watching the show again.

► They really like potato salad. The Ross Sisters singing it's praises in Broadway Rhythm (1944). Well, singing for the first minute, then it turns into some truly amazing contortion and acrobatic stunts. Strangely erotic for potato salad. Solid salad, Jack.
