Last night Jill Scott saved my life

Yesterday was a good day. I went to classes, and I found out that I got a B on the Blacks in the Arts test that I was sure that I failed. Then, i went to study with Robert in the library after class. Me and my friend Steven went to a candlelight vigil for Matthew Shepard last night. It was really sad. on Friday, ABC's "20/20" aired a story about ( Read more... )

yeah the shepard thing is confusing
theres evidence that he provoked the murderers sometime before/during/after they tried to mug him and that pissed them off and they did all those horrible things to him. it is also known that the dudes were on acid or some other crazy hallucinogen and were extremely irritable and delusional and probably would have killed anyone in that sort of situation. still, i think, things are getting way out of hand because no one should ever do that to anyone, gay or not. so it goes.

its just really stupid with all this gay exposure stuff going on lately with gay rights, gay marriage, gay adoption, etc etc. its america and obviously we are split straight up the middle on our ideals and bush basically won the election because of his view on gay marriage---the point is, the more gays are exposed, the more half of the nation hates them.

and the more i love you <3 MUAH

what are the plans for the summer, funnybones?

i think folks voted for bush for lots of reasons besides gay marriage, but i won't deny that that was a pretty distinctive ideological deal he had going for him. i'm not entirely sure that increased exposure is engendering more hate; if the nation suddenly recloseted itself, the religious right wouldn't suddenly approve of gay marriages. more like it's pushing that hate into action, into laws and movements focused on controlling and discriminating and "fixing the problem". b/c we gays are clearly a threat to right-thinking people, and must be stopped before we pollute the nation and draw it down the road to depravity and sin.

won't someone please think of the children?

there's a designated gay district in washington dc? i remember when i visited helen we went to lunch at some cafe and she's like, welcome to gay atlanta, i love coming down here for food and shopping, the people are so friendly. apparently it's like a few blocks where all the gay people hang out. i thought it was so weird.

strange.

a few days ago, i randomly brought up Matthew Shepard and The Laramie Project to some drama folks. they've never heard of it/him, and don't know what it's all about.

then again there are tons of criminal events over here that i've never heard about myself...

cheers!
