I just realized that 90 % of what I post here is some kind of vent/bitch session. I guess this is my only way of getting things out. And since I have major PCD right now I'll just write about this here. I don't feel like posting the whole thing on Team Jonas because several other people have already posted about their Houston experience, so I doubt many people would be interested. But this is for me to get it out and the few who might be interested to read.
So on the 11th my dad drove me to the venue, since apparently I can't do anything on for myself (but that's another story entirely). We left the hotel around 4 and got to the venue at about 4:15. I picked up my meet & greet wristband and decided to go on in the gates, since they were letting everyone with any kind of wristband in. Soundcheck started about 5 minutes after I got there and I was kind of upset because almost everyone went to soundcheck so I was wandering around the venue by myself for about 10 minutes. Then I saw a bunch of people come in the gates who either had meet & greet wristbands only or no wristbands at all. I have no idea how the people with no wristbands got in, but they all went straight to soundcheck. So after the Camp Rock people left and the boys were about to take the stage, I just walked up the steps and into soundcheck. I sat waaaay in the back but at least I was there. :) Once I got in I saw a mix of people; some people had soundcheck wristbands, some people had meet & greet wristbands, and some people had no wristbands at all. I still have no idea why they let us all in, but I'm not complaining.
Soundcheck was pretty good. It was really good to see the boys again after over a year, and the whole experience was very relaxed and intimate. If they have another tour next year and the VIP package is the same setup, I'm definitely getting it. My only complaint is that there were several girls in front of me holding up posters for most of the show, so I couldn't really see that well and I only got one really good picture. Plus I was really antsy the whole time because I wasn't sure if I was supposed to be there. I feel kind of bad for the people who paid for VIP/soundcheck because I got in for free. Sorry guys. lol
During soundcheck I was texting my friend Katy, who got to the venue a little while after I did. I told her that I got into soundcheck and that she should try to get in too, but she said they closed the gates off and wouldn't let anyone in. I was on Nick's side and he kept looking over my way; even though he probably wasn't paying any attention to me, I got semi paranoid that he was glaring at me and thinking, "who is this dumb girl who's sitting here texting people while we're trying to perform?" :P
After soundcheck, they told people with meet & greet to hang out there for awhile before the line started. So a couple of minutes later I found the line for the marquis jets m&g. I asked the lady where the regular m&g line was but she said she didn't know and to just hop onto the back of that one which, btw, turned out to be the regular m&g line. It was mass chaos at first; there were girls there who weren't supposed to be there, not because they were trying to sneak in or anything but because they had no idea where to go or what to do. After a few minutes, though, they got it pretty organized. I ran into my friend Rosalie, who had gone to soundcheck. I asked her about another one of our friends who had soundcheck but she said she hadn't seen her since. We talked for a little while and then she left.
They opened the doors a little before six and I finally met up with Katy, who stood with me in the line until they kicked her out. People around us were talking about how we should sneak people in, but I don't think anyone was really serious. And even if we had wanted to, security was super strict. They asked for our full names and checked to make sure our wristbands were legit. Someone in front of me got kicked out because they bought a wristband or their wristband was fake, I'm not really sure.
Anyway, m&g was totally different from last year. It was a lot more rushed -- we were practically herded through like cattle. I guess they were trying to finish in time to do the actual soundcheck? I'm not really sure. I felt like I was in a fishbowl because there were so many people there, whereas last year it was just me, the boys, and Hoffman. I did get a glimpse of Danielle right as I got there, though. She looked really pretty, and she was wearing this gorgeous dark green sundress. I barely got to talk to the boys; all I did was shake Kevin and Nick's hands. When I got down to Joe, I really wanted to try to get a hug, so I hugged him but I don't think he was expecting it so it was really awkward. Then Kevin told me to come stand by him so I rushed over there, took the picture, and left. As I was leaving, Nick said "thanks so much for coming! Enjoy the show!" I'm kind of sad that I didn't get the opportunity to have an actual conversation with them, but I'm also glad that I got to meet them a second time since a lot of people don't even get to meet them once. Sadly, they cut off my wristband as I was leaving.
After meet & greet I met back up with Katy and one of her friends, Nicole, who also had meet & greet. We complained about how short it was, then she left and I got to meet Katy's mom. We all went to find our seats and I talked to a few other people once we got inside, then went to my seat when the security lady told us to get out of the aisles. :P Just as the show was starting, there was nobody sitting to my right, so I invited Katy to come sit with me, which she did.
I know I was ridiculously skeptical of the show when I first heard about it. I didn't think a so-called "Camp Rock tour" would be any good. I even considered not going once I heard just how much Camp Rock stuff would be involved and got really mad when people lashed out at me for that. I don't regret that decision; that was how I felt in the heat of the moment. But I am glad I decided to go because the show exceeded all my expectations. Everyone on stage had this high level of energy and that energy was contagious. I know last year a lot of people (myself included) said that the boys looked somewhat bored a lot of the time. This was not the case this year. Once they came on stage, they all had so much energy that it was hard not to get into it. I screamed and cheered more than I have at any other concert I've ever been to. Oh, and we got a bunch of new/different songs; during the medley they sang Mandy, BB Good, and Inseparable. We also got Fly With Me, which was AMAZING, and A Little Bit Longer. Instead of his usual speech Nick talked about 9/11 during ALBL and asked for a moment of silence. Several girls were screaming during the moment of silence, but from what I understand it was mostly people in the lawn who were too far back to hear/realize what was going on.
After the show, as I was leaving the venue, I heard screaming up ahead and a bunch of girls behind me realized that they must be seeing the boys leave. So there was this huge stampede to see them, though by the time we got there all I could see was the top of the tour buses. In any other circumstance I would have been annoyed, but since it was a Jonas Brothers concert it was kind of cool. I've always heard/known about the hysteria surrounding them but have never really been in the thick of it.
If you read that novel, you're amazing. Picture time!
This was the only good shot I got during soundcheck. They pulled a girl on stage because apparently someone told them she was a singer, and she sang Give Love a Try with Nick. I think her name was Nicole, and she did have a really nice voice.
Demi. I kept getting her in the weirdest poses. I don't know if it was because my camera just happened to capture them or because she kept making weird poses.
I tried all throughout This is Me/Wouldn't Change a Thing to get a good shot of Joe and Demi together, but they kept moving. This is the clearest one I got and of course you can barely see Demi. Guess that's what I get for sitting on the far right side of the stage. But at least Joe looks good -- the part of him you can see, anyway.
This one's kinda blurry, but I kept it strictly because of the look on Garbo's face.
This one's blurry too, but I kept it because Kevin looked hot and sweaty.
Geez, I'm a perv.
Meet & greet picture is up on twitter and facebook. I don't feel like posting it again.
Anyway that's my full story. Kudos to anyone who read it all the way through.
