So if you have any recs at all -- I assume they'll be from Yuletide or something -- for The Wire fic with no spoilers beyond episode 2x02, I would be very, very happy to receive them. One of my friends just linked me to this because I, well, I am a little bit obsessed with this show. I know you are looking for fic recs, but have you seen Pursuit of Happiness yet? It distills D'Angelo's and has amazing clip choices and sense of movement.

As for fic, there isn't much. I've been rewatching the series with a couple friends and are currently up to S2, so I reread all the fic I could find to see what is not spoilery. This is what I came up with, as there actually isn't that much to begin with.

Soldiers Go Home is a series of AUs about Stringer and Avon. There are a few references to things you haven't gotten to, but they are fleeting and subtle enough they shouldn't spoil anything.

Walk the World is Omar pre-series fic. Both are by jae_w.

Back in the Day is another snippet of Omar pre-series. This one is by sabrina_il.

There are also two of my fics that won't spoil you, The West Side Way is a very short ficlet about Herc and Caver, while Today's Just a Day Like the Day That He Started is Lester fic, where he interacts with

I have not read/seen anything about the show, because I'm afraid of being spoiled by the smallest thing, like looking up an actor to see what else they were in and accidentally discovering how many episodes they were in indicating that they die mid-season or something. (When I got into BSG I wikipedia'd the most innocent detail and accidentally discovered one of the characters were a cylon, so I'm being more careful now.)

I can't believe there's no Kima and McNulty fic! D: I mean, maybe it's because the hospital scene in the S1 finale was everything I ever wanted, but still. I wish there were some. I hope it's not because fandom hates them or something :( I mean, okay, I can't see fandom hating Kima ever, but i can see fandom not liking McNulty. Which, if that's true, I think I'd rather not know.

No problem at all! I've been screening things for mjules so I had things on hand already, and I can totally understand not wanting to be spoiled.

It is mostly because all the Kima fic has spoilers, there are a few. Also, there is just a general lack of any type of fic or other fanworks. And I am always willing to talk about The Wire. I basically have been trying to force a fandom into being by sheer will power. (Unfortunately this hasn't worked yet but I have hope!)

I AM SO HAPPY YOU LOVE THE FIRST SEASON FINALE TOOOOOOOO! I have watched that ep, and Daniels' speech, so many times. CARVER!

The second season is sort of the least impressive and least popular, imo, but season 3 is better than season 1 and season 4 and season 5 OMFGAAAAAAAAAAWD I have no words.

But! In S2 you get Ray Person, the AU where he never joined the Marines, AHAHAHA.

Heee, for me the big flail moment was the scene where McNulty visited Kima, although of COURSE for you it was the Daniels' speech thing, of course.

Ray is hilarious. It actually took me like 2 episodes to recognize him -- at first I was just like, ugh who is that annoying kid, and then I realized it was him. And given that his character has certain similarities to Ray on GK, I understand more deeply just how annoying he would be to other people in the military.

I feel bad about loving it so much, actually. It's like the kind of show you should talk about in solemn hushed voices. But Kima! And Stringer! And Omar! And Bunk! And McNulty, okay. And everybody.

But I've only read like--two fics, maybe? because I have this weird need to just process with this show, so I don't have recs :( Also I'm scared that I'd want to write and just, no. But omg, let me know when you get up to season three? lol, I'm so excited for you.

I will let you know! And yes, ALL THOSE CHARACTERS. You should TOTALLY TOTALLY READ so you can WRITE YOU REALLY REALLY SHOULD. Really. Liiiiiiike what if McNulty pissed someone off so much that his next post would be as a crowd control officer around an American Idol tour venue? Huh? Or what if SOMEONE MURDERED DANNY GOKEY ON TOUR IN BALTIMORE AND EVERYONE WAS A SUSPECT.

Um, or just some Kima and McNulty gen, that would work too. Not that I'm trying to put ideas in your head or anything...

lmaaaooo ADAM IN THE WIRE 'VERSE I can't even--comprehend what that might look like. Um, maybe there's a crime scene, and no one's allowed to leave, but McNulty's technically off crowd-duty so he and Adam drink together, and Kima comes over and is like, "the fuck, Jimmy" and he's like "What the fuck did I do?" and Adam's like, "Do you think I'd look hot in a police uniform? I'd totally look hot in a police uniform. I should work one into the show, right?" and then I think Adam fights crime, maybe.

I feel a little dirty now.

LOL. Maybe they keep trying to figure out new ways to sneak in informants and go undercover and plant wiretaps and Adam just keeps going up to drug dealers despite their warnings of STAY IN THE CAR ADAM, but he's all friendly with a bright smile on his face and simple direct questions which they just answer straight up! And it drives the cops crazy HOW DOES HE DO IT. (Also possibly he and Omar had a thing once way back in the day. I'M NOT GOING ANYWHERE WITH THIS I'll just shut up now.)
