Straight Out Of Brisbane festival is next week - come along! Six days/nights of amazing gigs featuring artists who we've brought up/down from all around Australia and the world; scores of panels with fantastic and innovative speakers; mind-blowing new media and visual arts and way more!
come along - we can drink beer together and it'll make the last six months of hard work, long days/nights and bazillions of e-mails more than worth it!

Some of my personal recommendations are below... i'm not reading from press releases here. it's all good, but i can't recommend EVERYTHING in one post...

Wordy Types - Metro Arts - 745-845pm - musicians, writers, publishers, poets all talk about their interpretations of writing and words.
Opening Night Party - SOOB Festival Club (610 Ann St.) - 8pm-late! loud music, friendly company, extremely competitively priced beverages, public holiday the next day!

Spirit In The City - SOOB Festival Club - 12-130pm - beers and ideas! Father Bob from SBS/JJJ/etc imparts his wisdom with other noted religious figures. it actually sounds like it'll be really amazing. plus the catholic leader know about it... meet priests! drink spirits!
supermega screening - The Globe - 7-10pm - a free triple-bill screening, featuring shorts/clips curated by Kill Yr TV, The White House and selfhelp. West End! CBD! Friedrichshain!
Ladyfest - SOOB Festival Club - Kevin Blechdom from Berlin does a special DJ set, with live sets from Macromantics, Anal Cookie, I Heart Hiroshima, Ninetynine

Of The Occult - The Globe - 7-11pm - Experimental film, with live soundtracks from Brothers Of The Occult Sisterhood.
Namco Disco - SOOB Festival Club - Claire Marshall choreographed dance piece - WITH A GALAGA MACHINE! FOR REALZ!
Apocalypso/Pikadon Nights - Jugglers - 2 levels of insane electronic, hip-hop and weird pop sounds. These crews know how to put on a party. with Barrage! and Pinkenba, and many other amazing acts

Global Presidential Election - The White House - 6-9pm - official launch of Kenneth Hung's new exhibit Global Presidential Election. This is the only thing he's doing in Australia... so don't miss out. again, I really suggest you look up kenneth and global presidential election.
Beamathon - Jugglers - 7:30pm - late. experimental film and sound - featuring Castings from Sydney! Playing for you! for only $8 - help us AND them pay bills! also featuring sue harding, a sixty-five year old artist from wagga wagga who makes intricate sound art with dot matrix printers. AND projections on a giant ball! don't be shy! or cheap! come!

most events are free... some gigs cost money but not a great deal. the most you'll pay is $15 - but most gigs are $8. it's well worth your while, a lot of these artists don't come around every day y'know...
please come, i don't like being nervous about things. plus i fuck off on tour straight afterwards, then when i come back i work stupid bullshit long hours at my other jobs... so i'll have to be some hermit maybe? seeee meeeee? hugs! high fives!
