Ugly picture ahead.

So, this post is primarily made cause I was readin' the newspaper this morning (online edition only, of course) and they had this thing from the Dapper Dan Awards I was at last night, and yeah, there's a picture of me - and didn't you want one of those, Emmer, me in a suit or somethin' stupid like that? Dunno why, but here. New suit for the occasion. I really like pinstripes. Shaved and everything, cause I don't look scruffy as hell. The chick was sorta scary, but. What can you do, huh.

Oh, the Dapper Dan Awards, for all of you that don't know...which is probably all of you...is like, honoring Pittsburgh athletes. I'm the first Steeler since 2001 to get the Sportsman of the Year, so that's sorta cool, except I got that statistic shoved down my throat every five minutes in the form of "What do you think about yourself being the first Steeler since 2001?" And I had to prepare a speech, which sorta...I mean, I clearly can't write anything decent. But I don't think people expected much. I got to be the dumb jock up there. Sharin' the spotlight with the Sportswoman of the Year, Lauryn Williams. Real smart, Olympic medalist. And! The Lifetime Achievement Award was Arnold Palmer! So I picked his brain a little about golf, and it was a nice night. Hung out with Jason Bay, mostly, cause he was there, couple of other distinguished Pittsburgh athletes. I got to talk about the Cubs series with him. And he was all impressed I was there, asked if I was turnin' into a Pirates fan, and I really didn't have the heart to tell him I was there for the Cubs, so I just sorta nodded. But, the guy's cool, just not the baseballer I wanted to hang out with, in particular.

Back to practice today. Regular grind. I did get the best news EVER today though, apparently in the off-season the Steelers form this travelling basketball squad to play charity games. And I am so excited. I mean. It's the Steelers Basketball Team. Speechless with glee, my friends. They asked if I wanted to be in. Do I wanna be in. Do I breathe? Honestly. So our first game's May 21st, I think, I'll have to double check. But basketball! With my boys!

Off to watch game tape (well, I'm sorta watchin' it right now) and avoid all my teammates because they're still raggin' on me about missin' a few days of (optional) practice and, uh, stuff related to that.
