Well, just got back from the hospital and it looks like my mom has taken a turn for the worse here. Last night and most of the day today she has been throwing up and getting sick and her blood pressure is going up. They are doing some more tests and giving her some different medicines to try and help ease her symptoms and everything so hopefully they will figure out whas wrong and she will be feeling better soon.
As a result of my mom getting worse, I decided to cancel my trip up to see Becca :( Yesterday my mom was doing pretty good despite the kidney stones and everything, so I figured today she would have been feeling better and doing better... but she has gotten worse, so I don't feel comfortable leaving my dad without any support while mom is still in an unstable condition. But I had a talk with Becca and she was really wonderful about it and very supportive and understanding and gave me some advice and info that made me feel alot better. Turns out her grandma had a stroke and was really sick afterwards too, so I guess its not that uncommon of an after effect of a stroke. She also said that her grandma regained almost full use of her arm and that the only long-term damage was some limited strength and dexterity in her thumb. So that is very reassuring.
I feel bad for cancelling our weekend together since we were both really looking forward to it. But, I promised to make it up to her and rescheduled our weekend for the weekend after next (my brother and nephew are coming down next weekend). So I am going to try and do something special for her to thank her for being so wonderful, understanding, and supportive during this time.
Its going to be a long two weeks before we can see each other again, but we will survive. Hopefully she will still be able to go out and have a good time tonight with her friends. She deserves a good night of letting loose and relaxing.
Well, I am off to do a little running and then head back up to the hospital.
Edit: My mom is doing much better. She passed her kidney stone (which was the size of a small pebble! Ouch!) so that helped make her feel ALOT better. She stopped throwing up and was beginning to keep some food down, so thats always a good sign. Hopefully within the next couple of days, they will find out what caused her stroke, begin therapy to help her regain movement in her arm, and get her blood pressure down to safe levels.
