Belated Mothers Day weekend report

May 17, 2006 13:38

Should have posted this a couple of days ago, but oh well, better late than never *lol*. And besides, its not like anyone ever reads any of the crap that I write on here anyway.

So that being said, on with the update.

Friday
Friday was prety boring, I had to get up and go to work at Bergners at 7am. I pretty much changed light bulbs for most of the day and then covered Harold for a couple of hours since he went home early. But afterwards I picked up my paycheck and did a little bit of shopping, got some gas for my car ($2.89 a gallon around here now, at least its under $3 now). But not a whole lot else happened, but Oh I did find and buy "The Naked Gun" on DVD for $5 bucks, so that made my day and I spent the rest of the night watching that, reading a little bit, and watching movies.

Oh, I also bought an 8 pack of 6 hour VHS tapes friday since I cancelled my cable subscription two weeks ago and my (or Richards I should say)cable is going to be turned off on May 31st. But for the next couple of weeks, I am going to be taping the hell out of my favorite shows so that I have some decent shit to be playing in the background while I work on the computer or read or something. And the great thing about my tv/vcr combo is that once the tape runs out and auto-rewinds, afterwards it turns itself off. So I can put in a tape before I try to go to sleep, fall asleep watching something and not have to worry about turning it off or anything. So far I have a tape of Mythbusters and started a tape for Dr. Who and travel/food channel stuff (already have several whole tapes of Good Eats and the original Iron Chef). But opther than trying to save some remenants of TV and watching misc. crap, Friday night was pretty boring. I did get to see the end of the latest Dr. Who though and tape it, man that was creepy with the gas-mask wearing zombies running around asking if people were their "mummy", but all in all a really good episode. I'll probably have to do a Dr. Who post here sometime soon or just include it with one of my misc. musings posts.

Saturday
Well, I slept in a little bit Saturday, managed to start taping about 6 hours of the Mythbusters marathon they were showing and then headed out to my mom and dads place to see them and my brother Roger and his family that were visiting and came up for Mothers day.
SO I got to hang out with the family and play with my nephew Tanner for a couple of hours. But Roger and Deb were planning on coming into Galesburg to do a little shopping and eat at the Asian Buffet, I had the same idea, so Roger, Deb, and I all went to the Asian Buffet for supper and let the grandparents have some fun time with their grandson and give Roger and Deb a break from him for a little bit (my parents hate chinese food so they didn't want to come anyway *lol*).

But we had a great dinner there and talked about a lot of things. They were really happy and excited to hear that things were going so good for Phyllis and me and thought that Trothmoot sounded like a lot of fun. So I am glad they seem to like her and are supporting us and are wishing us well. But after we ate, they went to go shopping, while I went and did the same, mostly to go and try and find something for my mother for Mothers day. Roger suggested Farm King and told me that the one they have up where they live in Iowa has exotic meat sticks made from all sorts of exotic animals and that mot of them were pretty good.
So I go there, of course, cause if there is one thing that almost always appeals to me is the chance to devour and consume exotic animals *lol*. So I shop around Farm King for a while and found this cute little bunny lawn ornament that has the bunny holding a sack and looking like he is walking. The top of the sack looks like it is opene and could be used to hold water for a bird bath, birdseed for a bird feeder, or even used as a planter, so I grab one of them and searched for my exotic meat sticks. I found them and grabbed all of the good-sounding ones that they had left. I grabbed a smoked duck (AWESOME TASTING!), Antelope (ALSO really tasty!), Kangaroo (It was pretty nasty tasting), and Alligator (It was okay except for all of the cajun seasoning they added that made it a little bit TOO hot). But besides those, they also had Jalepeno Yak, Moose (sold out), Wild Boar (sold out), Elk (sold out), and Wild Turkey. So I went to the check out lane to buy all of that stuff and had a fairly attractive, but WAY too young (If she was over 20 I would have been shocked) redheaded checkout girl flirt with me *Shaking my head*. Like I said in an earlier post, it seems like girls are always flirting with me or something now. Must be cause I am in a happy, committed relationship and that makes me appear more confident and self-assured than when I am single, lonely, and desperate *lol*. I just smiled politely, bought my stuff and left. Spent the rest of the night playing around on the computer and playing Morrowind.

Sunday (Mothers Day)
Sunday morning, I slept in for a little bit, then headed out to my Mom and Dads again to have a cookout and gie her my mother day present. She loved it of course and Roger and I both had an idea of putting some plastic carrots in the bag thing and have it look like the bunny was walking away from the garden *lol*. But she hasn't decided exactly where she wants to put it yet so it wouldn't get damaged or shat upon by birds.

But we had a pretty good cookout with lots of hamburgers and hotdogs and other good stuff to eat. I shared my antelope jerky with my family and we all had a pretty good time. But got to hang out with them for a while, hang out with my nephew and brothers. But after a while they all had to go home since Bill had to work tht night and Roger had a long trip back to Iowa. I stayed for a little while longer and hung out with the folks and got about a dozen or so old books out of my old closet upstairs (I'll probably need them now that I wont have a tv *lol*) I even found my old Redwall book that I bought oh, bout 10 years ago or so. Its still in almost pristine condition and has a really cool cover that looks like an old Tapestry with the title and everything written like in an old book. But after I got my books and everything, I headed home aroun5 or so and read a little bit ad watched movies and stuff for a while before heading to bed.

Well, thats about it... not real awful exciting, but given all the drama thats been going on at work, boring is a nice change of pace. Didn't really get to talk to Phyllis too much this weekend, but it sounds like she got all caught up on her sleep and everything so that is always a good thing. Well, talk to everyone later.
