I have a happy car.

Went and got my car all taken care of today. And luckily it costed me a lot less than I was expecting it to.

I worked for Richard for a couple hours today and made Tacos for lunch. Afterwards I drove around a bit and decided to go someplace new to get my oil changed for a change. I used to go to a place called "SpeedLube", but that place got bought out by Valvoline and they changed the way they did things. One of the things that they changed, and the main reason I hadn't changed the oil in my poor car in almost 9 months is that SpeedLube used to send coupons in the mail for $19.99 full service oil changes. Since Valvoline took over, they no longer use coupons and increased their prices a little.

I decided to go to a place less than a block away called "The Grease Spot". They had a full service oil change for $30, and they had a special offer where you can get your tires rotated for just an extra $10. After I took it in, they said they would have to charge a bit extra ($15) since my car used an unusual oil filer (high performace filter), which I accepted since thats what the other place always charged too. Plus I went ahead and had them do a small system flush on my car since it had been waaaaaay overdo for an oil change for an extra $10.99

So I tallied the total in my head while I waited and figured I would have to pay $66 dollars or so (whatever tax came up to), and when they finished and gave me the amount I owed... to my well-disguised shock it only came up to costing $46 all together. I think the kid they had ringing up my bill forgot to add a few things on to it. But I didn't say anything because A: They should be communicating better and keeping track of what they did better and B: I could use the extra money. So I wasn't going to say anything if they weren't, and besides they may have had a new customer special and given me a discount or something. In any case, I paid my bill and drove off twenty bucks the richer.

Not for long though, I decided to treat my buddie and went to the car wash, cleaned and vacuumed out the car, cleaned the entire inside down with armor-all polishing wipes, and put a little gas in the tank. So my car is now officially happy.

I feel kinda bad that I waited so long to get it serviced, but to be fair I haven't really driven it too far this past year and it was only about 2000 miles past due for an oil change. Still, I probably should keep up with the maintienence a little more vigilantly.

Of course I really HAD to get all this done anyway... I have a long, but very exciting trip to go on next weekend!! I am driving up to spend four days with my wonderful girlfriend!! I am soo excited I can't wait for this week to be over with so I can go up and see her.

We are going to head to the Renissance Faire next Sunday which should be a lot of fun. Other than that, we don't have a whole lot else planned except hanging out and enjoy spending some much needed, and much deserved time alone for some rest and relaxation.
