(part 1) We get to see the transportation rings at work for the first time as an alien soldier arrives to capture Jack and Daniel.
They are led before Ra.
Ra confronts them with the device Jack had put out. It turns out to be a bomb.
Daniel is shocked and puzzled.
I love the sideway glance Jack gives Daniel.
They get demonstrated that the alien heads are in fact masks and there are men underneath.
Ra’s mask dissolves also.
And we see the young man underneath.
Jack makes a mad dash for the weapon of one of the guards, who is one of the two of Jack’s men somehow turned Ra’s mindless slaves.
Daniel tries to stop the shooting and gets shot himself in the process.
The children who are the entourage of Ra, form a shield around their master.
Jack can’t bring himself to shoot anymore, gets captured and thrown into a dungeon of sorts, where he is reunited with some of his own men.
Ra finds the pendant with his sign on it around Daniel’s neck and thinks up a special plan for him.
In the meantime he sends what in the series we will know as gliders, out on a revenge mission…
…bombing the settlement.
Kasuf urges the people to safety, and tries to beg for mercy for his people.
But after a short but thorough attack, many are dead or wounded. Sha’uri hears from Skaara of Daniel’s fate.
Daniel however has been healed in the sarcophagus, which Ra normally uses for himself to give his body eternal life.
Daniel is led before Ra, who tells him he’s going to send the bomb to earth, but enhanced with the special material they’re mining at the planet, so it’ll be ten times as effective. He yanks the pendant off Daniel’s neck.
In the meantime Sha’uri gathers the young men to tell them what she and Daniel have learned from the secret drawings.
How they tell of a rebellious uprising against Ra on Earth, which Ra lost, and how they were forbidden to read so they wouldn’t be inspired to try the same here, as they are now.
Daniel is led outside. Ra wants him to execute Jack and his men, in front of the people, to set an example.
In the crowd the young rebels gather. Skaara and Sha’uri signal to Daniel.
Daniel notices.
Skaara shows him the gun from the base-camp he’s hidden under his cloak.
Daniel understands what’s going on, turns around and starts shooting at the guards.
The rebels start shooting too to form a distraction and scatter the crowd.
The men run towards the crowd.
They are given cloaks so they can mingle.
This way Jack’s men, Daniel and the young rebels escape and find shelter in some caves. Jack’s men are very enthusiastic about the uprising and think they’ll make a chance. Jack however isn’t so happy.
Daniel tells Jack to tell his men about the bomb.
Reluctantly Jack explains how he was supposed to blow up the stargate if they’d find potential menace on the other side, which they had. He was supposed to stay behind when the others had gone back to earth, so he could set off the bomb.
Back in the pyramid Ra is displeased with what has happened. We see the hand-device for the first time.
And immediately see what it’s for, as he kills the guard he thinks is responsible for the escape of the prisoners.
Daniel finds out the young men assume he and Sha’uri are husband and wife after what happened behind the curtains.
Sha’uri is embarrassed and explains that she merely neglected to tell the men that he didn’t find her pleasing.
Daniel shows Sha’uri that he finds her very pleasing indeed.
Daniel finds Skaara drawing a picture of the events at the pyramid.
And in that drawing he finds the missing symbol; they can now go home!
At the mine the rebel boys, Sha’uri, Daniel, Jack and his men force a break-out.
Much to the distress of Kasuf who still thinks Ra and his soldiers are gods.
Daniel shows him that underneath the masks, his gods are mere mortal men.
Kasuf has to digest this news for a bit.
In the pyramid Ra is still determined to carry on his plan to send an enhanced bomb to Earth.
For this he’ll need the mineral from the mine, but when the ‘mineworkers’ arrive with their cargo, they’ve got a surprise hidden under their hoods.
It’s a shame the teasing wink Jack gives the guard doesn’t come over in a cap.
A fight starts, but when the men outside try to run in to join in, they find the door closed.
So they have to turn and run for shelter, as they are being attacked themselves.
Inside, once they’ve taken over the guards, Jack sets the bomb and tells Daniel to leave without him. Daniel has a little under 7 minutes.
Daniel is stunned.
Behind them Sha’uri is taken by surprise when a guard comes storming in. She shoots him, but gets shot herself also.
Upstairs a guard activates the transportation rings to go down to where the stargate is.
When Daniel hears the rings being activated, he scoops up Sha’uri and goes to stand in the place where they’ll be transported up.
‘Wait for me’, said in a voice that has me melt into a puddle.
Jack doesn’t quite know what Daniel is up to.
And when Daniel and Sha’uri get transported up, a nasty surprise gets transported down.
Daniel carefully lays Sha’uri inside the sarcophagus.
