(part 1) (part 2) And when that has done its job, he takes her back to the transportation rings to get down again.
He gets caught by Ra himself however, who starts using his deadly hand-device on Daniel.
Downstairs Jack has taken over the guard, and it’s clear to see the guard realizes what will happen when Jack activates the rings.
Ra is distracted by the sound of the rings being activated. Daniel takes advantage of this moment to grab the pendant around Ra’s neck.
The next moment Daniel and Sha’uri are transported down, while the guard’s head gets transported up. The guard doesn’t survive. (I didn’t feel the urge to cap that bit. Yuck.)
Jack finds out he can’t get the bomb turned off.
Outside the fight had continued, but since the boys and men are outnumbered and out of ammunition, they surrender.
Much to the distress of Skaara who wouldn’t hear of giving up just yet.
Then it appears Kasuf has done himself some thinking and has mobilized a regular army.
From over the hills the villagers come pouring down to the aid of the captured men and boys.
From inside Ra watches on as he realizes his defeat is near.
Kasuf leads a seemingly endless stream of villagers come running down the hills towards the pyramid.
I love how the men protectively try to shield the enthusiastically cheering boys.
The guards are being completely overrun.
Then Skaara notices something is going on behind them.
Ra’s spaceship is taking off.
Daniel and Jack hear it too and they still can’t get the bomb to shut down.
When they look behind them to Sha’uri, who is coming too in the transportation ring area…
..both Daniel…
…and Jack, get an idea.
And while Ra’s ship is taking off, he gets a farewell present transported to him.
Ra checks out his present.
And it’s too late to do anything about it.
Ship goes boom.
Jack, Sha’uri and Daniel watch from outside the pyramid.
Everybody watches the end of Ra.
The heroes take a moment to look around.
Daniel looks kind of dazed and I love Sha’uri’s observant look when Skaara steps forward to Jack.
Jack waits for it.
Skaara salutes Jack.
Jack acknowledges the salute.
The whole gang falls in with salutes.
Including Jack’s men.
So Jack salutes back…
… and turns to Daniel and Sha’uri…
…who are engaged in their own private salute.
Jack approves.
Kasuf leads the crowd in a cheer for freedom.
And then it’s time for farewell. Jack and Skaara shake hands.
There’s clearly a bond between them.
And Skaara is sad to see Jack go.
‘I knew you could do it Daniel’ Yeah, right… (French Stewart! Eeeeee!)
Oh man, I really learned to love Kawalski *clutches heart*
Jack asks Daniel if he’s sure.
Daniel confirms that yeah, he’s sure.
‘Will you be all right?’
Daniel looks back at Sha’uri, and this was the point where I realized way back when I watched the movie for the first time, that Daniel was staying with her. He didn’t leave her, or expect her to leave her family and life behind to go back to Earth with him, but he was staying with her, giving up his own life to start a new one here, with her.
I don’t like this cap very much, but I love the moment.
Daniel says he’ll be all right, and Jack gets it.
Then Daniel asks Jack if he will be all right.
Jack clearly didn’t expect that question, and realizes that yeah, he finds he’ll be all right.
They shake hands.
And Jack steps towards the stargate.
Daniel holds him back…
…and asks Jack to give Catherine the pendant. ‘It’s brought me luck’.
Jack promises he’ll do that.
And he steps through the stargate.
And whooshes back to Earth.
