Meta Challenge

Mar 01, 2012 20:28

tinahtinah suggested a meta-based challenge and I think this is a great idea! I'm going to run it for the whole of March, to fit in with the month_of_meta challenge which is also occurring this month. (If you have signed up for this and your meta is Rodney-centric, you are more than welcome to post it here too)

Meta definition:
There are lots of forms of meta, but the basic idea is that you choose a fandom-related (or in this case, Rodney-related) topic and tell us your thoughts on it. This could be as simple as talking about what type of fanfic you like, what your favourite episode(s) are and why, to more complex issues like is Rodney a hero or coward, does he have real or imagined allergies, what does fanon have to say about Rodney - or less serious subjects, like whether it was a mouse or rat that Rodney actually shot in Common Ground! :)

Minimum meta length: 50 words
Maximum meta length: your meta should ideally fit into one LJ post - but if it does go over that, then post it to your own LJ/DW/other site/blog and post the link(s) here
Number of posts: you can make one post per day, but can post as many days as you'd like during the month of March

If you don't think you can write 50 or more words of meta, then feel free to ask a Rodney-centric question instead - I don't want to exclude anyone from taking part! You are also welcome to mix and match between posting meta and questions, just remember to keep it to one post per day.

How to post
Make a new post to this comm containing your meta (or question). Please tag with the 'challenge: meta #1' tag and your creator tag (if you don't have one, I'll add one for you). You may also tag for characters that appear in your meta, but you don't have to tag other characters that turn up in the discussions (unless you wish to).

Please remember to warn if your meta deals with issues that are on the warning list in this post here. Obviously, discussion can stray into these areas unexpectedly, all I ask is that you warn where you can.

Also, please try to keep the discussion gen, whilst remembering that we are not anti-het/slash. If you must discuss a canon-established relationship (for instance, to provide a complete answer to someone's question), please try to keep that part of the meta/discussion as brief as possible and label if you can.

Meta Suggestions
If you want to suggest topics you'd like to see meta written on, you may leave them as a comment to this post.

If you're looking for topic inspiration, check out the comments here! I don't mind if more a topic is written about by more than one person - it'll be interesting to see the different takes on it!

So, go to it! You have the entire month of March to write and post meta (and/or questions) and to take part in discussions (politely!) - have fun!

(The comm is open for normal business during this month - ie the posting and reccing of various fanworks.)
