George was in the loo right now, and Mitchell was out doing some vampirey thing…
Which left Annie alone here at the pub. The spot closest to the house was a bar stool.
“Come off it, Hoshi,” Annie overheard, “there’s such a thing as ghosts.”
“I’m not so sure, Malcolm,” Hoshi replied. “I mean, if ghosts can go through walls, what’s to stop them from falling through the floor?”
I can go through walls? Annie asked herself.

At the house, later:
Bloody infuriating, you are! Annie thought as she stomped away from George, and -
THUMP
“You okay?” George asked - how’d he get over here so fast? - crouched alongside her. “What’d you go and do that for?” Silly girl walked straight into the wall.
