I don't think the part was unclear so much as I don't really know much, if anything, about this 'verse.

I did enjoy reading it, so I think it could stand on its own. I was just a bit confused over who some of the people were - like Farr. I'll hunt down Disputed, I'm assuming it is on your LJ?

I've gone back an read this, and it makes a lot more sense this time around. I still get the feeling there is backstory there, such as how Farr and all those name changes and getting rid of kings fits in with Mary, which might be what's making me think I'm missing something? And on a second read, I still say I enjoyed it.
