"Your brother asked me to run this interview," Colby said as he sat down across from the suspect. "And they all think you're dead," with the possible exception of your partner in all this. Every one of Charlie's girlfriends - past and present - had been brought in, because every one of them had motive to kill Charlie.
"Except I'm not," Charlie said. He was the suspect here.
"We kinda noticed that," David said, standing against the wall. "Someone did try to kill you, Charlie," David said. The only question being, was she actually trying, or was it to frame someone?
Colby said, "I'm not saying you wouldn't have made a cute couple with some of them, Charlie. Hell, you were probably quite a pair with more than one of them." And, put them together, you've got enough ex-girlfriends to have your own basketball team. "But you're going to have to come clean."
"I am clean," Charlie said.
"No, you're not," Colby said. "And you're good at calculating the numbers -"
"It's my job."
"- So you probably thought you could do better than the guys we catch."
"What was it, Charlie?" David asked. "Did you set up one of them to take the fall, while you and your partner escape to Mexico?"
"I already told you," Charlie said: "I didn't do anything."
At least he's not saying 'I didn't do anything wrong.' "But you know who did."
Charlie didn't say anything.
