Why did they get rid of Kate??

They get rid of Kate, and have Tim's sister move in?

I can see how they can retain Lee/f, but now we lose any suspense of Tim and Kate getting back together (heck, or even just Tim angst).

Is this their way of saying either "see how many Americanisms Lee picked up from Kate?" or "see, even other Englishfolk don't always understand Northerners" ?

btw, when someone says "he's from the North," does that mean from Scotland, or that area between England and Scotland? (Midlands?)
