Short Summary: Lester negotiates with Silas to do a job.
Author's Note: This drabble was born as I recalled Cutter's comment in episode One, about Lester being a government hatchet man. From that, it all snowballed.

Seagulls cried overhead as Lester did his best to ignore the biting chill of wind gusting in.
His associate, contrary to Lester’s state, didn’t seem bothered by any cold. “This time, I keep it,” he said.
Lester swallowed his objection. Though normally the epitome of success, Cutter’s team had twice now failed to send cross-timed animals either back to their home eras or to the proverbial elephants’ graveyard. “If you can control it,” Lester told Silas, “keep it. If not, it needs to die.”
Silas nodded. “In both cases, out of the public eye.”
“Exactly. Now, about your payment.”
I’d rather have a new pet, Silas felt.
