I heard this radio jockey say that he had a zillion requests for Sandler's Hanukkah Song, but that the previous night was the first night and he had played the song once then. Despite repeated calls for that song, any more would be too much and listeners would get sick of it.
There is at least one radio station here that switched to all Christmas music all the time on Black Friday, and I defy you to watch a single commercial break that has no Christmas music, or a single half-hour show without hearing the same Christmas song twice. Now factor in people around you singing and playing Christmas tunes at increasingly frequent intervals. The good news is, everybody loves Christmas music, and nobody will be annoyed in the least by hearing it nonstop, not even me. My personal favorites are Little Drummer Boy and Feliz Navidad.
To be fair, I listened to Alice's Restaurant four times on Thanksgiving.
To be fair, that was just the one day, and it was precisely the right day. I got aurally assaulted back in July with "Christmas in July." How about "July in Christmas?" We could have Fourth of July by Chicago, America by Simon and Garfunkel, Fortunate Sun by CCR, In the Summertime by Mungo Jerry, Justice and Independence by John Mellencamp, American Band by whoever sings that, Star Spangled Banner by Jimi Hendrix, and lots of Springsteen just on principle. It'd be a fun way to remind people that just because I am American (and proud of it, despite that idiot on Penn Ave), that does not mean I am Christian.
