What's wrong with society?

After a long flight from Canada to Houston, I click on the television while waiting for a friend to get home from a training session that he had to attend because he tried to restrain some kid who tried to stab himself with a pencil. Supposedly in the great state of Texas, you can get sued for trying to stop a kid from hurting himself. Welcome home ( Read more... )

Also, really - take this as a constructive criticism.. which means consider it, and actually think about what you've written and what it means.. I'm not trying to offend you here.. I'm saying it as a peer, so that maybe you'll take a look at the words you choose, and realise how important they are.

If the thing that concerns you most about domestic violence, or violence against women by men in general, is how it affects you - I don't even know where to begin. You're totally dismissing and ignoring everything that's important about what you're talking about, and focusing on how it *may* theoretically affect your getting laid or not. That's pretty gross.

You really just sound more hateful than compassionate. The words that you choose make it sound like you have a lot of misplaced resentment toward women, and very little genuine consideration for any of the gender issues that you're describing. If when you discuss issues such as these, you are constantly bringing it back to how it affects you personally rather than the people actually involved with it, then you need to start considering your motives.
