[ Open Reccing ] Title: At Home in the Trees Writer: minchout Status of work: Complete Characters and/or pairings: Jared, Jensen Rating: G Warnings, kinks & contents: [Click to read]non-graphic plane crash Length: 2200 Summary: Jared is just a sloth, happily living in his tree in the rainforest. But when a plane crashes not too far from his tree, Jared can’t help but investigate.
Reccer's notes: Because it is COMPLETELY darling, and the animals can talk to each other, and Jared is a sloth, and at one point a butterfly lands on his nose, what more do you need? Read this for a quick burst of feelgood sweetness. Because the POV is that of a sloth, it allows a reasonable sort of handwave of the plane crash as just a big noisy thing you don't have to think too hard about... so it's more about the sweet animal friendliness. It made me go d'awwww :).
The sound grew and grew. It seemed to spread, ripple through the air and trees, and Jared, too slow to pull himself deeper into the leaves the way he wanted to, clutched harder with his feet at the tree’s arm in the kind of grip that would keep him there forever, would keep him there even in death.
Then the sound disappeared as if it had been sucked from the world and a great, bright, orange-red light took its place. It streaked across the sky chasing the tail of a great silver bird, and both skimmed the canopy of trees, crashed through their blanket of protection, and fell out of Jared’s sight.
