Hello, Livejournalians!

Sooo. I've fallen ill. Surprise! It's some form of the Plague I often get when the weather is existent. Basically, the sinus infection that Never Goes Away. And this in spite of my sinus rinsing! You'd think my body would learn. I'm also sore as hell with Unidentified Spine Pain that gives me Mysterious Migraines. Whatever I've got was making me shiver and shake while trying to sleep the other night - it was incredibly annoying.

But I managed to drag myself out of bed in order to cancel my therapy appointment and propel myself to school, where I delivered my Pablo Neruda presentation essentially flawlessly. Miles was like, "JESS READ US HER TENTATIVE TRANSLATION AND I WISH I'D DONE THAT BECAUSE IT WAS A GOOD IDEA." He told me my presentation was "excellent" with a Srs Face on, so I think that means A+ for Jess! I stayed politely for Jackie's presentation and then I got the fuck out of there.

Of course, I'm dumb and I didn't go home right away; I went to Target to deposit Saturday night's paycheck. Saturday night went okay; I got a call from Derek telling me to go into work an hour later because The Game was On (Nebraska Huskers vs. Whoever, I think VA Tech) and no one would want me playing Maroon 5 until it was Done. This was fortunate because I was having horrible back pain and even submitted to a massage from Dad (I'm the kind of person who likes giving massages, but hates receiving them - they make me feel awkward, despite my love of hugging people. It's a thing) to try to relieve it. I took some prescription Naproxen and was somewhat better by 9. I ended up sitting at the bar chatting with Jade, one of the karaoke regulars, and eating a really dumb salad that was basically lettuce, tomato, cheese and a cup of ranch dressing. Laaaaaame. I started my set around 10:45 and it was almost constant karaoke requests. I barely had time to play music. Also, I had to orchestrate people's requests because 2 people were hell-bent on singing Last Song, and I don't know why, BECAUSE IT'S KARAOKE, and one 50-year-old man with grey hair and a potbelly sang 3 songs that ran over 5 minutes in length and he was TERRIBLE, and this stupid older woman who was blitzed on Miller Lite kept bitching at me because my equipment failed. The karaoke laptop crashed 2 times, and it was depressingly slow. But it's NOT MY PROBLEM.

These stupid fucking teenage (okay, they were my age, but they acted 13) girls with leis on were all OH WE'RE NOT COMING HERE ANYMORE. HERE'S TO THE BEST DEE JAY EVAAAAAARRRRR COREEEEEEEY (the guy who worked there previously) and they were basically just Douches to me. Whatever, whores.

Sooo yeah. Derek stopped in as I was packing things up and talked to me about how my night went and I was very polite and effusive. This is my permanent gig now, so... yay! I have a steady paycheck. Apparently, I'll start doing private engagements and fill-in gigs in a few weeks. I don't THINK I'll be too busy, though, which is good, since I still have no clue what I'm doing in 2 of my classes.

That's about it. I stayed out of class today and kicked off early yesterday and I wish I knew what we were doing in Creative Spirit and Digital Synthesis. I just feel hopelessly lost!

I hope Saturday's gig has fewer obnoxious people. I guess the good part is I wasn't assaulted this time!
