Got online a little late for Xmas, but y'know. I hope everyone reading this had a fantastic Christmas Day, or at least a fantastic December 25th!! Mine was great.
Mom was feeling much better today, so that was good. We all got showered by 10 AM, and I ate cereal while watching Dad fuck around with the couch because he could, and then he vacuumed (!?) because he could. Right-O. Stockings were fun - Mom liked all the things we found for hers, and Dad liked the Stuff On My Cat book we put in his. Smeg and I got some jewelry and bath stuff and she got a gift card for Hancock Fabrics, while I got one for Michaels. Like I don't have enough yarn already! LOL. No, it's an awesome gift and it has CRAYONS on it.
Presents! I was thrilled to receive the following items:
- Giant-ass h4rdxc0r3 silver telescope. Seriously, this thing is HUGE. Dad had this mAgIcAL dR33m that my astronomy class would be AMAAAZING this semester, and when it sucked, he... went out and got me a telescope. It took a while to set up and ... now it's just down there waiting for me to use it, which I totally will. When I'm not tired.
- Torrid gift card ("We're lazy and you get to shop for your own presents," said Mom. Which is totally fine! I like shopping. :D)
- Black sweater, which is really really big, but I imagine it will be warm and can be layered over things.
- Red scarf from Bath & Body Works that I really liked! Now I have a red scarf!! w00t.
- Pink Grapefruit-scented lotion. Omnomnom. :[]
- 2 skeins of yarnz! The gift that keeps on giving!
- Vinyl multicolor-striped tote bag from Paperchase (that cute if useless stationery section of Borders - I'm obsessed with their crap because I like Cute and Useless things!)
- Colorful striped mousepad, also from Paperchase! It's a little lighter in weight than I'm used to, so I am adapting it to a coaster on Earth Table, which I needed. And it's pretty. :D
- Crayola TELESCOPING CRAYON TOWER omggggz. You have no idea how much I wanted this. I really love crayons. It has 150 of them. :) :) :) Mom and Smeg and Dad said they almost didn't find it, but they went looking because I wouldn't shut up about it, and it was a Christmas Miracle.
- Gold ring with 7 colored stones set in it, approximating a rainbow!! RAINBOWZ.
- Several pairs of earrings - stars, glass things, copper, wiry things, rhinestones, etc. A good time was had in the jewelry departments this year!
- Cocoa-y colored velour cap with 3 amber rhinestones on it. Very snappy.
- Black with white/pink/purple argyle scarf, because Smeg spreads the argyle love! It's cute!
- Tiny black vinyl coin purse-type thing with a chain and several studs/grommets/rhinestones on one side, in which a little black compact mirror with rhinestones was placed. From Thmeg. <3
- And the thing I really, really wanted (O RLY?? YA RLY!! I keep saying 'really,' sorry. Smeg keeps pointing out owls and saying O RLY and it's RLY FUNNY for some reason)... A PLAYSTATION 2 OMGZZZZ. With 2 games!! Harvest Moon and ... something about Pirates!! Smeg and I just played about 30 minutes of Harvest Moon and it is pretty funny, but the console came with no memory card, so we quit since we couldn't save. IT'S SO SMALL. The console, I mean. It's the size of a planner. It's AMAZING how much it does for being so little. Holy crap. I love it long time. <333
- Super Monkey Ball Adventure for the GameCube, because why not? This is actually hella fun and I spent a long time rolling around - it's an actual adventure-type thing with a world you roll around in, instead of just racing or whatever. You interact and do shit, but you're still a monkey in a ball. Vaguely inconvenient, but that's how they roll (HAHA ROLL PUN DID YOU GET IT??)!
Mom loved her portable DVD player and Smeg loved all the Feng Shui/Asian stuff she got, as well as the sewing machine case Mom bought her, and Dad loved all the weird books we got him, as well as a plug'n'play console with all the original Pac-Man games on it. I got that for him for his birthday and he was quite taken with it, surprisingly. The man loves him some Pac-Man. Dad turned 56 today and received a chocolate cake in the shape of a castle with candy canes crumbled over it, as well as inserted into the turrets, and an apple crisp, both made largely by Smeg! They are delicious. Dad's Quest for Smeg is apparently drawing, as she ended up with a book on it as well as paper and watercolor pencils. He always lights on the weirdest things, but we usually like them anyway, so that's good.
Our relatives are alive and well - we never see anyone over Christmas, but we get calls. I think we heard from both Dad's brothers and both Mom's siblings. I stayed up way too late last night and went for a nap around 2 PM and Smeg woke me around 5:30 so I could talk to our uncle Charlie, who I haven't heard from in a while, except through my cousins who I recently found on Facebook. He and my aunt Jenny are staying in Arkansas for the time being (as opposed to Indonesia), and Mom really wants to see them before they leave the States again, so maybe we'll go to Arkansas or something! Aunt Marlene called Mom just as she was about to go to bed and they talked. It seems my second cousin (first cousin once removed? He's my aunt's grandson and I have no clue what that means) Devon, who's like, perpetually 12 in my head (but Mom insists he's about 20 now), has gone to Alaska alone to 'find himself.' Smeg said, "I love [Mom's] side of the family - they're all so weird. They're nice, but weird." And quiet. They do weird things in a polite and quiet fashion. I hope he finds himself. I guess that's all I can say about that. LOL.
The cats (you didn't think you'd get out of this entry without me mentioning a feline, did you??) have been bizarre today, but that's sort of expected, I guess. Jack is BITCHY beyond all reason; he keeps hissing at/growling at the other cats and grouching at us, and he KNOWS he's being bad but he just keeps on doing it!! I have no clue what his deal is. Lard has been very sweet and loving, all rubbin' on everyone's legs and purring in cardboard boxes. Kitten is still under the weather, and Dad keeps making me feel horrible for not having gotten her to the vet yet, but we thought she was just sick from the petroleum jelly Smeg and I put on her paw-pads because they were dry and cracked, so we didn't think anything of it, but she's ... really farty and a bit lethargic. SO farty. DX Toby has been a total doofus... it's his first Christmas ever, as far as I know, and he promptly got a large piece of tape and ribbon stuck to his plume-tail, and went SHOOTING OFF through the living room and kitchen and dining room, and Smeg and Dad went to help him out, saying that he was completely flipping out and wheezing from fear. I felt sort of bad, because I burst out laughing at him with this mass of tape attached to his ass. It was really fucking funny, though. Poor dumb Toby. He quickly forgot about it and all was well once more.
Saw bits of several movies today, and this evening we popped in our tape of It's A Wonderful Life, which is the best Christmas movie ever in addition to being one of the best MOVIES ever and anyone who says otherwise is a lying dog, and that was really nice - I still staunch tears at several scenes because they're so fantastically acted. Smeg and I played some of the new video games and I did a tiny bit of knitting and now I'm pretty much ready to sleep. It was a great Christmas and I'm looking forward to going dresser-shopping, as well as hitting the after-Xmas sales. But first, I direly need to clean up my room! Yarn and clothes EVERYWHERE.
I also need to wrap and send out/give presents to my friends! So sorry about the HUGE DELAY. D: My knitting needles are all backed up with projects and I have a whole pile of things for other people that have been accruing for a while.
So much yarn. :O
