We have a visitor.
His name is Jack. He is 10 years old and he belongs to Mom's coworker, Joyce.
He weighs 22 pounds.
He's not terribly active, but he's very friendly and sociable!
And his tail is only about 6" long.
I came downstairs to meet him this afternoon and he had gone missing. So, strangely, had Kitten. We looked EVERYWHERE in the basement and had Mom help look and after an hour, we decided that Lard, who was around EVERY CORNER wherever we looked, had teleported the cats to another dimension and was revelling in her solitude.
Kitten wandered downstairs from wherever she was after a while, and Smeg and I settled down in the basement to eat dinner and play Animal Crossing in hopes that Jack would show up. He didn't. So we made another search after dinner, and Mom lifted the recliner on the giant couch down there and peeked under the flap and there was Jack the cat, curled up like a little piebald burger and gazing out at us like, "What?"
He crawled out a little while after we went upstairs to watch Crossing Jordan, and we came down to take pictures and say hello. He purred for us and he loves to shove his face into your hand so you'll scratch him. He's also drooly and when angered, frustrated or irritated, he lets out lots of little squeaky meows. I love him, but I hope that Joyce's eczema isn't triggered by her cat so she and her son can have him back. I hate for them to be deprived of their sweet kitty.
I learned how to knit in the round last night and I made Veer some little wrist gauntlets with some of the extra burgundy yarn from her cowl-necked top. :D I really need to pack up the stuff for her and Emily and mail it this week. I also need to write that critical essay, join Fit Express (we keep trying and failing), and call Michaels re: my application.
I spent a few hours scanning the best of the Washington trip pictures, but I'm so damn sick of pictures that I just don't want to put them up tonight. When I get home from class tomorrow night, I shall upload them and share them with you all. :D
