In my last post I mentioned I had an interview 6 hours later at the Flint store for Manager of Plumbing and Electrical. it was about 30 hours after that interview that I got a call with an offer. They offered me $32,000 base, plus sales bonuses and comissions. I have the potential to make between 36-40k a year in this position.
I started just over a week ago, and have already been largely accepted at the new store, I was greeted by my crew with open arms, they treated me as a savior, a light, guide through the dark.
I've got 4 departments, Rough Electrical, Lighting, Rough Plumbing, and Fashion Plumbing. 2 Team leaders, 1 sales specialist and 3 Customer service people. all of them are older, with the exception of Gary the sales specialist, he's a couple years younger than me I think.
So far its been pretty interesting, one thing I noticed right off the bat is that I'm the man now. I don't have anyone coming to check on me every 5 minutes, People come to me now for guidance and direction, they want me to tell then what to do. One thing that has been a little bit of a struggle for me is that I'm so used to doing everything myself, now my job is to make others do the work, and make sure they get it done right, and on time.
Officially my job function is to Manage sales and merchandising standards within my assigned areas. I have a shit ton of paperwork that needs to be done weekly, but somewhat shockingly my team leaders are very hands on with whats going on and do much of the very paperwork I'm responsible. I'm really excited going in, The drive to Flint is a little much, but I like it for the most part, I get alot of good music listening in during those 45 mins, and I love going 85mph to see how fast I can get there.
In other news, Meaghn is changing jobs as well, she is going to be the Lead Teacher in the Preschool room at her day care. For the last 3 years she had been the Lead Toddler Teacher, she was ready for a change, and I'm glad she's getting a chance to do something different. Meaghn has wanted this position all along, since she started working there over 5 years ago.
News from Lily's world, She walked about 5 ft last night, and is getting better, I would say in a week she'll be all over the place.
Til next time.
