Death Eaters kill 12 in Hogsmeade

The only entirely Wizarding township in the United Kingdom is tonight restless, the residents locked fearfully inside their homes at the insistence of Ministry officials who decended upon the village this evening to collect the bodies of twelve other ministry wizards - three of them aurors - from a small semi-detatched house on the corner of Quell Place and Shafto Lane.
The bodies have been identified as those of Archie Perkins, of the misuse of muggle artifacts office, Gilbert Whimple and Melusine Morgan of the committee of experimental charms, Cyril Croaker, Annette Wallis and Seren Stevsborg - unspeakables of the department of mysteries, Tiberius Ogden, elder of the Wizengamot, and Annafreid and Daniel Heckle of the department of international wizarding relations. The three Aurors have been identified as Kingsley Shacklebolt, Alfie Williamson and Dagbert Dawlish.
The bodies were found arranged about the house in 'a very normal manner' (as quoted by Cecile Marchbanks, Auror-in-training, who was with the team of Ministry officials who came upon the bodies as part of a routine surveillance operation in the area). "Some were sitting down in their chairs, with the newspaper or parchments still in their hands..." said a clearly very rattled and tearfull Miss Marchbanks "The only ones to have apparently attempted to fight back were Kingsley and the others - the aurors...but it was clear they were taken by surprise. Snuck up on..."
The Ministry has revealed that this was "definately a death eater attack". A disgruntled Cornelius Fudge declined to give reasons for the Ministrys verdict, but proferred the following advice to the witches and wizards of Great Britain;
"We suggest you stay in your homes, if at all possible - especially if in the vicinity of Hogsmeade or Hogwarts School of Witchcraft and Wizardry. If you live elsewhere, we would still suggest remaining housebound, but if that is not possible, at least postpone overseas or intercontinental travel. Lord...thingy is known to take advantage of those who put themselves in weak positions - travellers, those who find themselves alone, those in positions of power, children..."
The Minister trailed off, at this point, and refused to continue. When questioned by our reporters about the whereabouts of Harry Potter, the 'boy who lived', he denied knowledge that the student was not still 'at school' and then proceeded to deny further comment on the murders.
The Death Eaters are presumed to be still at large.
Whilst a motivation for the killings is still unclear, it would seem that the house on the corner of Quell and Shafto was set up 'as a sort of base-camp' (quote a resident of Shafto Lane, who saw the deceased parties enter the house frequently, and was aware of the ministry 'patrols' around the area). The Daily Prophet will continue to bring you the news as we find it of what the Ministry is/was doing in the area, the nature of the murders, and of course news of the purportraters.
Anyone with knowledge of the crimes is asked to contact the Ministry.
