It's amazing to me how people just HAVE to have their cell phones when alone in public places. I've noticed it's kind of replaced the awkwardness of hanging-out-by-yourself, so-you-smoke-a-cigarette scenario. Now people have a few minutes to kill and no one to share them with, so they immediately jump on the phone. It's so annoying. But I do

those phone conversations are SO FUNNY! making what is usually private into something public is an aspect of them people don't get sometimes.

yeah, i use my phone as a security blanket. i don't mind being alone but when i'm walking alone at night i'll pretend i am having a loud conversation on it. i have games on it too, so i can play on long subway rides!
