Slipper, Pipe and 1st gen iPod, pumping low bitrate lossy compression music though a £4000 tube amp... Kickin' it oldstyle.

Actually, I don't have an iPod - I opted for the creative Zen instead. No major regrets, barring some suspicions about the headphone socket being poorly designed.

Wireless laptop-to-amplifier connection is hopefully coming soon... once I decide which has the least-bad reviews. Or find one which people actually seem to like.

I was actually being snidey about people who get obsessive about their tube amps and speakers... then play shite through them and expect the music to be magically fixed.
Not accusing you of that though, I should point out!

Ah, good. I wasn't sure how serious you were being and didn't want to be offensive :)

So far, I've only been playing CD's (I got a shiny new player with the amp & speakers - awesome deal) but I will at some point hook up the laptop. Not-so-low compression, but I like the rounding an amp adds to the digitized music, and apparently my amp has a special setting for such formats - which I'm itching to check out and see how good it is (or isn't).

Yep, I'm having a serious geekfest at home right now. But I think I was long overdue for one, hehe :)
