Last night was the Top 20 gentlemen of American Idol, Season 7. Overall it was a pretty decent night so let's get down to business....
Michael Johns
Song: "Go Your Own Way" - Fleetwood Mac
I was actually surprised with Johns tonight. He was ten times better than last week, although still not as good as they make him out to be. They really pimp this guy and I really don't get the appeal. He's one of the older contestants, looks it, has a mediocre voice, and really unenthusiastic performance technique. A lot of folks said he was flat during the high notes but I still think he was better than last week. I will never be a Johns fan.
Jason Castro
Song: "IJust Want to Be Your Everything" - Andy Gibb
The judges are really gonna piss me off this season. Ugh. Jason had a really solid and good performance. The judges are crazy to think his vocals were weak. It also makes me extremely mad that they are bitching at him about the guitar playing. First of all, why let them use instruments if you are going to be negative about it? Telling Jason not to play guitar is ridiculous because it's NOT an act, it's who he is. It's like telling Paula not to dance. Try telling a singer/guitarist like John Mayer or Eric Clapton for example, that they can't play guitar while singing. It's who they are- why should they have to change who they are? I thought he did a great job and hope he sticks around; afterall he's one of my boyfriends!
Luke Menard
Song: "Killer Queen" - Queen
I don't like Luke. I don't think he's a good singer, I don't think he's charming and I just think he's annoying and wasting space. He should never try to sing Freddie Mercury - he ruined that song. My fear is that because he is sem-goodlooking, he'll rack in a bunch of votes from the ladies, when he doesn't really deserve to stay in the competition. If I have to listen to his caterwalling one more week...
Robbie Carrico
Song: "Hot Blooded" - Foreigner
Robbie really disappointed me this week. It thought he was really good last week but this week - no so much. The song would have been okay had he sang it in a higher key, but he sang it in a key too low for him. So what if the judges don't think he's rocker enough- deal with it. Pouting won't get you anywhere.
Danny Noriega
Song: "Superstar" - The Carpenters
So we all know how I feel about this kid, right? Last week I said he was awful and should leave - this week, he actually impressed me. I admit it *gasp* I liked Danny Noriega. I figured out how to enjoy him; close my eyes while he sings and then turn the channel when he talks. I will aslo admit that he was really funny with the whole "ish" and "kay" bits. My new catch phrases. Kay.
David Hernandez
Song: "Papa Was a Rollin' Stone" - The Temptations
Hernandez can sing... and do cartwheels (one up on me because I'm a fatty!) I was nervous when the music started because I'm a huge Tempts fan and there's only one of him, not 5. He was really good though, I think he overdid it a bit, and tried to hard but still nailed it. I was pleasantly surprised.
Jason Yeager
Song: "Long Train Runnin" - The Doobie Brothers
I officially hate the judges. They are such cruel hypocrits. This ruined my night and he's not even in my top 2. Jason Yeager is amazingly talented among other things. Last week the judges bitched at him saying he was a good singer but was boring. Simon said he was like a "dependable old dog". Freaking untrue and rude. So this week, Yeager comes out and does an upbeat song, shows personality, and still sang extremely well, and what happens - he still gets bitched at about it. They tell him to sing a "singers" song. WTF is Moon River then? It really makes me mad that Simon has the audacity to say Jason looked drunk. Sure his dancing was a bit cheesey but he did exactly what they asked of him. I don't understand what they want him to do. I am surprised he could stand there and take thsoe overly harsh comments from Simon. I think Yeager is very talented and has a lot going from him. I am a bit of a creeper; his neck is amazing. Yes folks, I said NECK. It makes me want to be a vampire. Ha! It makes me mad that because people vote for other things besides true talent, Yeager will probably end up going home. Eff you judges.
Chikezie Eze
Song: "I Believe to My Soul" - Donnie Hathaway
Jacuzzi wasn't quite as bad as last week, but that's not saying much cause despite the judges comments, he still pretty much sucked. Elliott Yamin rocked that song when he did it. "Chi" did not. Instead he shouted the whole thing and if we're being honest, he still was rude and looked ridiculous. I definitely think he should go home this week but I have a feeling that won't go my way.
David Cook
Song: "All Right Now" - Free
David improved majorly since last week. I don't feel with him that the guitar was necessary; it came off to me as more of a prop. I also feel that he was very rude to the judges and came across very arrogant and cocky. I think Cookie is trying too hard to be like dar Mr. Daughtry but for me it jsut doesn't really work much. I'm really indifferent to him.
David Archuleta
Song: "Imagine" - John Lennon
David's review won't be too long because there's not a lot to say. Archie is absolutely, stunningly, amazing. He has the entire package: talent, charm, looks, and charisma. he will win at life. Too bad he's a minor...
My Top 3: David Archuleta, Jason Castro, Jason Yeager
My Bottom 3: Luke Menard, Chikezie Eze, Robbie Carrico
Who SHOULD Go Home: Luke Menard, Chikezie Eze
Who WILL Go Home: Luke Menard, Jason Yeager
