Last night was the top ten girls performances. It wasn't too eventful and the reviews will be short. On with them!
No pictures tonight because frankly I just don't care enough about the girls to go collect pictures. Bah.
Carly Smithson
Song: "Crazy On You" - Heart
I was majorly impressed by Carly tonight. My dad and I are huge Heart fans and so usually when someone sings one of their songs we get mad because no one can hold a candle to Anne Wilson. Tonight Carly Smithson, became the first person ever to do a Heart song and do it justice. She was amazing. She of course is still not as good as Anne Wilson, but she came so incredibly close that it was a bit scary. I enjoyed it a lot and it is clear that she is the best female vocalist in this contest. She looked good too. Carly is a winner.
Syesha Mercado
Song: "Me and Mrs. Mr. Jones" - Billy Paul
I didn't like Syesher last week and I don't like her this week. She is not very good at all, she completely butchered that song and she acts like a stuck up bitch. I don't like people like that. She should go home most definitely.
Brooke White
Song: "You're So Vain" - Carly Simon
I think that Brooke did a much better job this week than last week. She sounded like the Brooke I loved during the auditions/Hollywood. She still wasn't 100% but she was so much better that I actually enjoyed it. It was so weird that we were just sitting and talking about how she reminded us of Carly Simon and then she started singing that song. It was pretty cool.
Ramiele Malubay
Song: "Don't Leave Me This Way" - Thelma Houston
So I still love Ramiele. There's just something about her that draws me to her. She has a really good voice as well. I think that she did a pretty good job, but I think she should have done a song with more vocals and less "excitement" if you understand what I mean. She didn't even really dance around too much but I think she could have found and equally uptempo song that showed more of her range. Overall she was in the top 2 I believe.
Kristy Lee Cook
Song: "You're No Good" - Linda Rondstat
She had this coming; Kristy "you're no good". Ugh. She made me mad. Why would someone as mediocre or below, of a singer come out and try to sing Linda Rondstat, who we all know is one amazing singer. She didn't do a good job and she looked like she was riding a horse the whole time she was singing. She is too country to be country even. She just isn't that great, and from her package if she's so good at everything else why not do something besides singing. Why pick the one thing you are less than average at and pick that as a career? I don't like her and I don't think she's nearly good enough to be in the contest. Go home.
Amanda Overmyer
Song: "Carry On My Wayward Son" - Kansas
This is one of my favorite songs of all time - why oh why Amanda did YOU have to sing it? I think she is one cool person but as a singer, she just doesn't cut if for me. When she was doing a normal singing voice she was terrible, and was only even close to being good when she powered it but then she went overboard and sounded like she was shouting and went way off key. I couldn't stand it. Ugh.
Alaina Whitaker
Song: "Hopelessly Devoted to You" - Olivia Newton John
This was a disappointmet from last week. I was really impressed with Alaina last week and she completely counteracted that with this week's performance. She was off key for almost the whole song and it just was not a good song choice for her. I hope next week she'll be back to her old self.
Alexandrea Lushington
Song: "If You Leave Me Now" - Chicago
Well I think that this girl could be good if she'd pick a song that showed her vocals. She whispers almost everything she sings. At least she didn't whine about the pronunciation of her name this week.
Kady Malloy
Song: "Magic Man" - Heart
Kady Malloy should be taken out and beaten severely for even attempting a Heart song. She has NO VOICE for that kind of song. What the heck was she even thinking when she picked that song? These singers need to stop picking songs that are their "favorites" and sing songs that they can sing. She acts like such a little snob to begin with and then she comes out and bombs two weeks in a row. She's gonna stay probably for the fact that miraculously, although I don't understand why, she has a big fanbase. Ugh. Just go home already.
Asia'h Epperson
Song: "All By Myself" - Eric Carmen
I was let down by Asia'h this week. Last week she rocked out and this week she just didn't cut it. I didn't like her fake hair either. I like the real Asia'h not this fake one we saw. The song was too powerful for her and she just couldn't cut it. Her voice is too raspy and breathy for that kind of song to begin with. I still like her as a person but she needs to step it up majorly if she's gonna stick around for long.
My Top 3: Carly Smithson, Ramiele Malubay, Brooke White
My Bottom 3: Kady Malloy, Syesha Mercado, Kristy Lee Cook
Who SHOULD Go Home: all three of the people I said in the bottom 3
Who WILL Go Home: Kristy Lee Cook, Amanda Overmyer
