Portobello Beach
Edinburgh has a beach! Well, Portobello does. I walked down there as part of my lard-busting regime on 1st May, 2011, and I'd forgotten how massive it is. It was a lovely sunny day, but those sunbathers in t-shirts and bikinis must have been hardy souls because the wind was blasting straight in from the Baltic!

Portobello beach viewed from the Joppa end on 1st May, 2011. According to my map of Edinburgh, the beach is almost exactly one mile long, although the walk from Seafield to Joppa feels like a very long mile indeed.
