WHEEEEEEEEE!!!! I KISSED CHRIS MURPHY!!! ok, but before I get ahead of myself, just thought I'd get that out there. I am freakin out so bad right now, but I gotta tell things in order.
so today was the last day of u of t's week long frosh...so liz and I decided to meet doris (who's been down there all week froshing it up hardcore) for the free
sloan concert.
now, sloan is one of my top 5 bands and they put on one heck of a show. so, as we were waiting for doris (she called me @ 3, when we were supposed to meet and was like "laura - I'm stuck in a parade and can't get to you right now. I'll meet you in half an hour" easily the funniest thing I've heard in a while.) and emma and joy and peter walked by and so we ended up chilling with them and then doris came by and we all headed down to the back field for the *free* concert and food.
we got there and chilled around, waiting for the festivities to start, took some pics:
the first act was controller.controller...now, I'm not really a fan of women in rock music (at all in fact, it should be banned in my opinion), but we gave these guys a try and they were pretty much crap on a stick. whatever.
then we realised that the free food was on, so we beelined to the tables, I swear we got like 20 pieces each...me and liz and doris all had one (or two) piece in each hand...felt a little cow-like but it was all worth it. then we got some water and headed on back to the stage for sloan...we got real close to the stage, there was only one layer of people between us and the barriers..I've gotta say that the group of people at this concert were the nicest group ever...no pushing or cajoling or anything. just well-behaved people out to have a good concert...they played about a 40 minute set, and of course, I took photos:
andrew, sloan's drummer, playing guitar for a couple songs
andrew back on drums, chris freakin murphy on guitar
chris rockin out
chris adjusting the ol' sunglasses
chris strummin that bass like no one's business
little more of the chris
chris on drums for a bit, jay on bass (these guys switch it up sooo much)
someone threw shorts up on the stage and chris was like "what the fuck? complete with skid marks, I dunno which sorority these belong to"
then he put the shorts on at the end of the show
what? he's smiling? should we be afraid??
all the guys together
great shot of jay infront of u of t clock tower
patrick, andrew and chris
I love this pic, it's patrick andrew and chris but I love the way it turned out
patrick and jay rockin out
and, per usual, I took some video, this is "rest of my life":
VIDEO of REST OF MY LIFE after the concert ended, I was like "yo guys, let's run around the back of the stage and see if we can't see the guys" so we did, and lo and behold - chris murphy! in the flesh!!! so I stood in the mob and finally got up to talk to him, I told him that sloan is pretty much the best thing ever and he said cheers and then we got a picture together...it was funny cos I put my arm around him for the picture and he goes "I'm all sweaty" and I said "I love it. don't worry bout it"
it was greatness. then, even better, I gave him a big kiss on the cheek and it was all sweaty and gross, but soooo worth it! I kissed chris murphy!!! oh man. definitely the highlight of september. maybe my life. (ok, maybe not my life, but it's pretty up there) seriously, I had sweat in my mouth and all over my shirt and hands and it's the best thing ever...
anyways, I got an autograph (stupid me didn't bring an album, so I'm stuck with a piece of frickin paper)
then emma got up there and got a pic with chris
then we called it a day and started heading back home, and we all carried a piece of doris' luggage, and this pic is of doris' general struggle with the suitcase on wheels that's really way too small for anyone to drag behind ("my mum's a small lady!" says doris.)
we subwayed it home and that was it. goooood times.
