P.S. I hear Voyager 1 only has a couple of years to go before it gets out of the solar system. How exciting! It was launched in 1977 - how is it communicating with us? It's interesting to think our knowledge rests on the technology of 1977. Just out of curiosity. I've been lying in bed a lot feeling ill so have been reading too much Teletext and thinking too much about random things.

ETA: On the subject of archaeological discoveries, I'm surprised last year's list didn't have the discovery of a new Mycenaean palace site near Sparta (Ayios Vassileios), complete with Linear B tablets!!! (That really brightened up my year, let me tell you!) But they did have the earliest Cherokee writing, which is kinda cool.
