Baaa again!

Awesome meme from biani:

1. Do you remember your first ever thing you were fannish about as a wee one?

Do dinosaurs count? If not (it was a sort of cat/dog substitute for me anyway!), then it has to be archaeology, which was greatly inspired by being exposed to Indiana Jones and a very early age. I think I've spoken before about the last impression Indy has had on my life!

2. What fandom was your first (fan fic) reading fandom?

I only got into reading fanfic relatively recently - I'd have to say Robin Hood was the first, around 2006. But I'd been writing it for a long time.

3. Are you very monofannish or a fickle fannish butterfly?

Fickle fannish butterfly is me :) I mean, it's not as if I go through them and discard them - usually I pile them one on top of another and keep them long-term. This makes my head very crowded! This is also why having some fandoms active and some dormant is important in order to make my real life function. At the moment I can't see either Robin Hood or the Professionals going dormant for years though ;)

4. Did you ever feel really fannish and obsessed about a tv show/movie/book, etc. but without having the desire to write/read fan fic?

Oh yes, that's my usual mode of fannishness. One of the reasons I don't read much fanfic, of course, is the lack of free time to do so - and I have to say that I've read some absolutely brilliant fanfic for a number of fandoms in recent years. But I tend to write much more than I read!

5. Did you ever have a fandom that was totally ruined for you by canon and/or fandom politics?

Hmm, no, not the fandom. I've accidentally been involved in the odd fannish skirmish, as with that recent Doctor Who thing, but the arrogance, ignorance and lack of manners of certain fans would never ruin the fandom itself.

6. Where were you fannishly in 2003?

Good question! Let me see, well, RoTK came out in December 2003, didn't it? Yes, I'd say my life was entirely Lord of the Rings based throughout the whole of 2003.

7. Where were you fannishly in 2005?

Ah, now 2005 is a very interesting one! I started off being enthralled to Orlando Bloom, both through LoTR and Troy (which came out in 2004, so I got it on video the Christmas before). Then, I watched the first series of the newly brought back Dr Who and fell head over heels in love with Christopher Eccleston's Doctor. As it got towards autumn, though, the first series of Rome was aired, and I had a strange experience of first falling for Pullo (which was a dream-inspired thing, quite a rarety for me) and then Brutus... and, well, there's an awful lot of totty whatever your tastes are in Rome, isn't there? :)

I love these questions, I want more! I can actually go back over most years of my life and pin it down to fandoms ;)
